Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was an amazing trip! Robbie was our tour guide and he was insightful, knew all about the Lord of the Rings! He also knew all sorts of information about Wellington which made this trip so much more interesting. Lunch was delicious. Weta workshop was awesome too. All sorts of color hings to see as well! 12/10 would do again.

Kelvin, our driver was marvelous, he knew of our ship's 1 hour earlier departure even before he arrived. Family/friend trip for 8 and our mobility impaired folks were well accommodated by him. Fantastic sights, awesome commentary, great suggestions to tailor the trip to what we wanted to see/do . I highly recommend this company...and an extemely delicious lunch was provided! Fantastic time had by all!

Simon was an excellent host for our tour. He took into account the make up of our group and our requests, in particular noting we were all keen to try some local gin as well as wine. We were very lucky with amazing weather! The tour bus was comfy and clean and the venues we visited were so friendly and informative. Lunch venue was absolutely perfect! Thanks for looking after us and highlighting the best of NZ / South Wairarapa. Great value, excellent service. Thank you.

We enjoyed this tour with another couple (very nice Aussie's) guided by Andrew. This trip was way more than expected. Andrew stopped at several Lord of The Rings filming sites including Helm's Deep (a quarry) and provided a LTR tour book to review. We made several scenic overlook stops. Andrew was able to add historical personal references from family history of ANZACs and had a notebook of copies of newspaper clippings relevant to the story. Then we visited three outstanding wineries and ate at Poppie's with a fine charcuterie board including pork belly and our favorite wine choice. We stopped to enjoy a coffee at a local coffee shop and then ventured into an award winning chocolatier that offered samples. The chocolate lemongrass was our favorite. Then on our way back Andrew offered to drive us into Wellington for a quick view of the city and then back to the cruise ship on time. This was a wonderful tour and highly recommended. Kudos to Andrew.

Had a wonderful time! Not only did we see the places where some of the LOTR was filmed, but we were also given a quick tour of Wellington as we made our way to specific sites as a bonus. The all day tour was definitely worth it! I will also say that Richard was excellent in making sure that my friend who has slight mobility issues was provided with assistance when needed. He was very patient and helpful. While my friend was not able to see every location of filming, she was very happy at being able to be as close as she could be. Great company and stellar service! Keep up the good work!

We really enjoyed our Martinborough wine and food tour. Our guide was Aaron, who is very passionate and enthusiastic about his backyard and everything it has to offer. Aaron's knowledge of the areas of Martinbrough were informative, travelling to 3 different boutique wine producers to experience the fruits of their labour. We enjoyed our day. Thanks, Aaron!

Brian is a life long resident of the area and was a rich source of information. We stopped at a state park where the village of Rivendell in Lord of the Rings was filmed. The set was mostly gone but there were photos from the movie available. We visited 3 wineries for tastings with stops at magnificent viewpoints along the way. Lots of fun with a small group.

We had the best time traveling around with Tom. First and foremost his driving was impeccable on the windy streets of Wellington! We could not have done that kind of driving ourselves. Everyone we met at each of the establishments were fond of Tom and therefore fond of us. That made a huge difference than if we had done this on our own. We love food tours and they are the best ways to get to know a city. This tour with Tom goes down as one of the best!

Thanks so much for the most incredible experience.. right from pick up to drop off, Cooper was so accommodating, knowledgeable & excited to please .. there was a mix up with mountain bikes however he was able to assist us by finding some e bikes to ensure we were happy & prepared .. Riding through the mountains was very spectacular through the different terrain & different levels .. we were impressed with our lunch including the gorgeous view we had to enjoy it .. the mountain bike trail towards the end at Featherstone was fun as well as the ride to our final destination where we had fun getting the speed up .. we absolutely loved the Royal hotel at the end with all the quirkiness of it …Thanks for providing an enjoyable way to create fun memories at this spectacular location.. we most certainly recommend this to others who love adventure & experiencing life the fun way

Earlier this year my wife and I went on this wine tour. Absolutely marvellous! Tom was the perfect host, picking us up from our hotel In Wellington and looking after us superbly throughout the day. We were in New Zealand - visiting from the UK - for several weeks and there were lots of highlights but the Martinborough Wine Tour was right up there - a truly memorable day!

We started the tour at C’est Cheese in Featherston and then on to the Le Gra Vineyard in Masterton - run by Brian and his lovely family - excellent wine and excellent food! After this we went to Greytown Honey - wonderful tasty honey and we couldn’t resist buying some. Then on to Poppies Vineyard in Martinborough - a different experience and some lovely wines. We went back to Wellington via Kaitoke Regional Park where the Rivendell scenes from the Lord of the Rings films were shot. Stunning!

We had a wonderful day that we will never forget. If you are planning to be in the Wellington area for any time at all we strongly recommend that you contact Tom at Kaewa Tours for a memorable experience.
