We had an absolutely brilliant day out on the Remutaka Cycle Trail Highlights Tour, courtesy of Wildfinder. Despite booking quite last minute, the customer service that we received from the team was fantastic, and they were extremely accommodating of a couple of specific requests that we made. A big thanks to Alex in the office, and to Sarah on the road, who was a wonderfully knowledgeable and caring tour guide and driver.
In terms of the trip itself, we were so glad that we booked the Highlights Tour over other options. You do both the easy-riding 18km Remutaka Incline track along an old railway line with beautiful forests and sweeping views, and then shuttle down along Lake Wairarapa to begin the Wild Coast track, 19km of stunning rugged coastline and more technical (occasionally unrideable) terrain. Both are awesome.
Athough this tour is relatively expensive, you get what you pay for, and the value of getting to do two very different sections of the Remutaka Cycle Trail (as well as the fully inclusive travel, lunch/snack, and bike and equipment hire) was totally worth it.
