From booking the tour Tom was great at communicating.
Tom chose four amazing family run vineyards which offered an amazing selection of wines. We were able to meet the owners and wine makers at all of the vineyards which made for a much more personal tour.

John was totally flexible in making our day relaxed and informative. John gave us the opportunity to spend more time at the Car museum and reduced time on other areas if necessary. We enjoyed his company and indeed everything that was included. - ShaygovaraQueenstown, New Zealand36 contributionsAs a mountain bike guide myself and my partner a wine guide, it was so nice to spend a day as a customer. We know what is expected of a guide and John fully exceeded our expectations.
From start to finish John catered to all of our requests, and more.
It was a terrible rainy day, but Johns vehicle was modern, warm and very comfortable.
He is very polite, knowledgeable of the area and also the wines. Every winery we visited was perfect for our tastes and he even managed to get us a booking at a Ata Rangi wines at our request without a booking which was a great surprise.
I felt the price was very reasonable considering the time John spent with us throughout the day, money very well spent.
We cannot recommend his tours enough, 5 stars easy.
Thanks John and look forward to seeing you down our way sometime so we can return the favour.

John picked us up from the hotel and we headed north out of Wellington to see some sights before hitting Boneface Brewery at Brewtown for our first tasting of the exceptional craft beer scene in Wellington. Lunch at Panhead and then onto Parrot Dog and finishing up at Garage Project. On the journey John's knowledge of the local area is fantastic and he showed us sights we would never have found on our own. Tom picked us up for our day of preplanned activities on a private tour which took us to the best of Wellington's foodie and scenic highlights (and the best local beers). A drive around the bays showed us Wellington's outer suburbs and the hidden Massey Memorial on the Miramar Peninsula. We learnt the reason behind the 'Wellywood' sign and even got to visit Gollum!
My favourite parts were the visit to Denzien Gin Distillery and lunch at Shepherd, whereas Sean most enjoyed a pumpkin spiced ale at Double Vision Brewing. I sense a theme here...
Our private Wellington foodie and scenic tour with Kaewa Tours was exceptional and we will definitely be back to try the Martinborough/Kāpiti tours too. Fantastic food, brews and great company. It was a great itinerary - a full day, but easy going so nothing felt rushed. Tom is a mine of information and nothing is too much trouble for him. What makes this a great tour is that it's "bespoke" in the way that he focuses on individual groups rather than large mixed groups so my husband and I enjoyed our day with just ourselves and Tom. All the sightseeing/visit stops are different in their own way so nothing was repetitive. The lunch platter at Poppies vineyard was superb - a "must-do", and the cheese and chocolate shops were irresistible. The 2nd wine tasting at Cellar Door was informative and not too long which is great. Cape Palliser Lighthouse felt like NZ's answer to Cape Horn (if you've been to Cape Horn you'll know what I mean!), and the Seal Colony and iconic Ngawi beach topped off the day. Finishing with fish and chips at the Lake Ferry Hotel brought this perfect day to an end. We booked the tour as a Christmas Present for our family of adults to enjoy. Tom is a great host for a day - driving us expertly for the day, providing humour and knowledge of the area and our stops.
We enjoyed Chocolates at Kapiti Chocolate Factory / Limoncello tastings.
An exceptional experience and wonderful hosts with olive oil tastings and lunch among the olive trees at Totora Tunnel Olives.
New Ciders to try (dry decilous ) at Elemental Cider rounded off with the famous Tuatara Brewing and tasting paddles - will return and stay longer.

The tour vehicle was comfortable and clean, and the actual attractions were terrific. Then we made our way up to the coast and the birds, and it was a good day for travelling, with no so much wind.
