Zealandia just keeps getting better and better. Really easy to see NZ wildlife eg Takahe, Kaka, Tuatara. The place is well laid out, lots to see for a day out. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and are willing to stop and chat. Highly recommended.

I always come across Oriental Bay to Freyberg pool. It is beautiful and serene by feeling the wind. Overall, it is the best place to jog, walk, work out and swim at Freyberg pool.

Good hike to combine with a trip to Cape Palliser lighthouse. About a 1.5 hour return trip from the car park to the Pinnacles. Amazing rock formations; you can see why it was selected for a LOTR filming location. You can either walk straight up the stream bed and back (many small stream crossings) or do one way via the stream bed and the other way via the Pinnacles Track to take in the lookout.

Sturdy footwear required. There are toilets at the car park.

The interactive experiences. Te Kohanga....the nest; which shares information about animal health and welfare. The Atua and inclusiveness of Reo. Ways in which the Zoo's collaborate to support the survival of critically endangered species, made me rethink my take on all that a Zoo IS.

The walk was long, but it was definitely worth it. The seals and rock formations were spectacular. We had a great time and will come again.

Somes Island is a beautiful place to visit. It was educational and knowledgeable about the history of the place. Moreover, thanks to the Department of Conservation for maintaining the island. It is one of a kind.

How many cities in the world can say they have 100 hectares of native forest and this is the only public botanic garden in NZ dedicated to native plants.
Easy wheelchair access for some of the walks and there are at least six treks.
We did the red trek which is mainly steps and in some places steep which takes you to a waterfall .
There is a picnic domain with bbq and a stream with eels, great for family picnics or children birthdays.
There is a toilet in the domain area.

good to be able to eat outside with the flowers of the rose gardens all around and good sunshade! Staff are obliging with all the CoVID constraints to administer. Good range of cabinet and á la carte items. Lots of chilled water. Good coffee.

We hired eBikes and biked the coastal trail to the Pencarrow Lighthouse. Was an amazing trail, the kids loved it. Great scenery.

Frank Kitts Park was one of the first areas of the waterfront which has a play area with a slide in the form of a lighthouse. It has areas for picnic.
