- Cara and John T1 contributionWe had a great afternoon and evening with Phil. We wanted to get out of the city itself and see some of the breweries a bit further out. Phil got us in at late notice to see Chris at Kereru, where I had two of the best beers I've ever had - a French Saison and a truffle infused, barrel aged barley wine. Next stop was a bit more corporate craft at Panhead in Beertown, then on to Baylands Brewing which was pumping. Phil was great on recommendations and knows the breweries really well. As we were the only couple on the tour, it was more personalised for us and we could pick and choose where we wanted to visit. Our guide (so sorry but I have forgotten his name!) looked after us well and we had great conversation and enjoyed the stories shared. We really enjoyed sampling all the different kinds of beer on offer and we finished off with a traditional beer at a traditional pub. Tom was an informative host with good information, a thoroughly enjoyable day. John picked us up from the hotel and we headed north out of Wellington to see some sights before hitting Boneface Brewery at Brewtown for our first tasting of the exceptional craft beer scene in Wellington. Lunch at Panhead and then onto Parrot Dog and finishing up at Garage Project. On the journey John's knowledge of the local area is fantastic and he showed us sights we would never have found on our own.
