Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Simon was an excellent host for our tour. He took into account the make up of our group and our requests, in particular noting we were all keen to try some local gin as well as wine. We were very lucky with amazing weather! The tour bus was comfy and clean and the venues we visited were so friendly and informative. Lunch venue was absolutely perfect! Thanks for looking after us and highlighting the best of NZ / South Wairarapa. Great value, excellent service. Thank you.

We enjoyed this tour with another couple (very nice Aussie's) guided by Andrew. This trip was way more than expected. Andrew stopped at several Lord of The Rings filming sites including Helm's Deep (a quarry) and provided a LTR tour book to review. We made several scenic overlook stops. Andrew was able to add historical personal references from family history of ANZACs and had a notebook of copies of newspaper clippings relevant to the story. Then we visited three outstanding wineries and ate at Poppie's with a fine charcuterie board including pork belly and our favorite wine choice. We stopped to enjoy a coffee at a local coffee shop and then ventured into an award winning chocolatier that offered samples. The chocolate lemongrass was our favorite. Then on our way back Andrew offered to drive us into Wellington for a quick view of the city and then back to the cruise ship on time. This was a wonderful tour and highly recommended. Kudos to Andrew.

We really enjoyed our Martinborough wine and food tour. Our guide was Aaron, who is very passionate and enthusiastic about his backyard and everything it has to offer. Aaron's knowledge of the areas of Martinbrough were informative, travelling to 3 different boutique wine producers to experience the fruits of their labour. We enjoyed our day. Thanks, Aaron!

Brian is a life long resident of the area and was a rich source of information. We stopped at a state park where the village of Rivendell in Lord of the Rings was filmed. The set was mostly gone but there were photos from the movie available. We visited 3 wineries for tastings with stops at magnificent viewpoints along the way. Lots of fun with a small group.

We had a great afternoon and evening with Phil. We wanted to get out of the city itself and see some of the breweries a bit further out. Phil got us in at late notice to see Chris at Kereru, where I had two of the best beers I've ever had - a French Saison and a truffle infused, barrel aged barley wine. Next stop was a bit more corporate craft at Panhead in Beertown, then on to Baylands Brewing which was pumping. Phil was great on recommendations and knows the breweries really well. Thanks!!

We had the best time traveling around with Tom. First and foremost his driving was impeccable on the windy streets of Wellington! We could not have done that kind of driving ourselves. Everyone we met at each of the establishments were fond of Tom and therefore fond of us. That made a huge difference than if we had done this on our own. We love food tours and they are the best ways to get to know a city. This tour with Tom goes down as one of the best!

Earlier this year my wife and I went on this wine tour. Absolutely marvellous! Tom was the perfect host, picking us up from our hotel In Wellington and looking after us superbly throughout the day. We were in New Zealand - visiting from the UK - for several weeks and there were lots of highlights but the Martinborough Wine Tour was right up there - a truly memorable day!

We started the tour at C’est Cheese in Featherston and then on to the Le Gra Vineyard in Masterton - run by Brian and his lovely family - excellent wine and excellent food! After this we went to Greytown Honey - wonderful tasty honey and we couldn’t resist buying some. Then on to Poppies Vineyard in Martinborough - a different experience and some lovely wines. We went back to Wellington via Kaitoke Regional Park where the Rivendell scenes from the Lord of the Rings films were shot. Stunning!

We had a wonderful day that we will never forget. If you are planning to be in the Wellington area for any time at all we strongly recommend that you contact Tom at Kaewa Tours for a memorable experience.

We had a wonderful day in Martinborough, enjoying lots of yummy food and wine. Phil was a great host, and we had plenty of time at each place we visited, so the day was very relaxed. I loved all the food and wine, and the scenery was stunning. I highly recommend this day trip

This tour was awesome.. Stella took us around some great Cocktail bars and we tried some new and some favourite cocktails. Really laid back and enjoyable time. Problem was after Dinner, when we knew where the cocktail bars were on the way home.. and how good the cocktails were!! Took me a day to recover!! 🤣

An amazing trip, Tom is so knowledgeable about everything in Wellington and showed us loads of things before we even left the city.

It’s a stunningly beautiful drive out of the city and a poignant stop at a WWI site before dropping into the winelands.

Our first stop was probably our highlight as we stopped off at Le Gra. A small place run by a family and in a quiet side road……….heaven. The staff were amazing and after a few pictures we were told about the wines by Brian. We then had a very tasty lunch and a look around the vines. Would highly recommend this place.

Our next winery was Johner Estate, proper in the sticks, but so nice. Great tastings from the really knowledgeable young lady. I was talking proper BS now so was loving it.

Our last stop was in Martinborough, a place called Poppies, we had a few photos in the vines before sampling a few of the liquid goods. Again, the staff are so knowledgeable, they seem to know a lot more than me and I have been tasting wine for a lot longer than them.

We then headed back to Wellington. What an experience which was for my 40th birthday and worth every penny. Tom is a very easy guy to talk to and knows answers to pretty much anything you ask him.

What a stunning tour, would highly recommend to anyone want to see the winelands of Wairarapa.
