The service is amazing and the stories behind art work are given freely with no push to sell anything. If you like quirky gifts, beautiful jewellery and gorgeous little artworks I recommend this place! There are plenty of shelves full of treasures of all kinds, from photography to cookbooks to graphic novels, crime and fiction. You can find anything here from the well battered classic to recent releases. Definitely a great place to spend some time and maybe find a treasure or two.

We were looking for a specific style of Jean, and were given a box of options to choose from when we couldn’t find what we were looking for on the rack. - Roderick W9 contributionsWe are grandparents over from the UK. We saw photos of this bookshop on the web and decided to take our grandchildren there for a bit of fun on a grey Sunday afternoon. The stock was amazing and the staff were really helpful. We sat on a little sofa in the toy corner and took time to make a good selection for a seven year old and a four year old. Well worth a trip to Island Bay. A fabulous team both front of house and workroom staff who will take time and care to get you exactly what you want. They'll keep your fitting details on file so the next visit is even easier.
Great selection of modern garb from casual to more formal but they'll do what ever you like and get your new outfit fitted to perfection.

It was amazing, she is so skilled and I feel so much better after days of walking around the city. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and friendly service she provided. I first visited it 5 years ago and bought a cleverly assembled little "robot"; came back last month and found its "sister" (see photo). The owners are cultured people who obviously put a lot of thought in the items they exhibit (and design a lot of them). Highly recommended.
