Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- matthew w1 contributionThis was a life enhancing, perhaps even a life changing experience for me. As a recently retired 50+ plus Brit I was struggling to find a tour that suited my needs for adventure with somem home comforts. Zig Zag Tours NZ was everything I hoped for and more! If you want to tour NZ in a small group, see the main sites but then reach the parts that others don't go to then this is your best option. The owners Jemma and Grant have got you covered. I did the 43 day tour of the North Island and absolutely loved it. A special shout out to their fanatstic comfortable Mercedes 4x4 van - it's almost the third member of their team. Honestly the time we spent in that van talking, joking, listening to music was a highlight. I've fallen in love with New Zealand and I've made new life long friends.Written 4 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carina HNew Zealand29 contributionsMy husband, our son and his friend embarked on the Waitara River Kayak tour with experienced guide, Peter, during our NZ summer (January).
The boys had paddled a bit, although weren't super experienced - but that didn't matter at all. Peter guided them through the river, including over the Grade 2 rapids - they loved it!
A fantastic afternoon learning some new skills, experiencing the river, enjoying the outdoors. A really fun adventure - never once felt uneasy, and gained so much confidence! Would highly recommend.Written 9 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheBonzNottinghamNottingham, UK98 contributionsThe North Egmont Visitor Centre is the starting point for several walks of different lengths and difficulties.
We went up past the Ambury monument to a lookout point; that was far enough for a casual 90 minutes return trip, and was fairly steeply uphill (on steps) all the way.Written 10 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JochenZurich6 contributionsI signed up my son for a surf course with Daisy. The group of students was quite mixed - some beginners and some more advanced. She and her team was still able to give every student the required attention.
In the 4 days the kids made really great progress. My son is now a very confident surfer!

It is a delightful place - peaceful and tranquil. I booked a local fishing guide - Adam Priest - and he supplied me with all the gear I needed. I learnt so much about river fishing. For instance, the food the fish eat and where they feed in the river. We worked our way upstream crossing the river several times. It was a great experience! Adam was an amazing guide and very knowledgeable. Here is his website with a price guide. I did the half day trip but probably needed longer.Written 15 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
