Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a free morning so wandered up for a stroll. We were not disappointed. The date and ginger beer scones at the tea house are to die for. The fernery is amazing. If you're a garden enthusiast this is a must. I am not, but I loved it. Little glades dotted through. A rhododendron garden, a hosta garden so many more. Sadly the zoo was closed as they are prepping for two large national events but even without going there, it's well worth a visit. There is a kids playground, a waterfall many many spots to sit and just take in thegresh air, the quiet and the views

I was expecting and ready to have to pay an entrance fee as, some 50 years ago I was a member of the trust.
It was better than I hoped; the grass paths all nicely mad permanent.
I was expecting a lot from the Brewster Art gallery, but found the outside more interesting than the inside
    Thanks for having me

For the price (FREE!) you really can't beat it. Fun playground and some cute animals. Only one Capybara was there, but there were a couple of tortoises, monkeys and otters. The bird cage where you can walk through had some very colourful birds. Recommend if you're in town with kids.

We came across the rock on our first visit to New Plymouth. Now this is simply brilliant and a great challenge. However I would be wary about taking any youngsters under 4.

Totally recommend running down the sand dune to the beach. It is quite steep and the sand was hot so don't stop.

A very cool attraction for art lovers. The building alone is worth looking at inside and out. Cool Len Lye kinetic sculptures. The other exhibitions were ok. Not great but then art is subjective. Glad we visited. $15 each plus parking isn’t too bad.

Stunning wildlife reserve with fabulous lake views. We'll worth the trip out of town. Unfortunately a cloudy day so we didn't see the mountain but still worth it.

I find it strange to write a review of a cemetery but this place stands out as exceptional in its gardens, garden volunteers and its associated respect for folk from the past buried here whose relatives or ones who could remember them are also long gone. Rather than to see abandoned headstones, one is delighted by the exceptional live floral displays all over the place. it was a delight for us and appears to attract an incredible number of locals who wander, pause and appreciate.

Captivating walk thru of an exceptionally preserved Arts and Crafts home and garden. It’s Beatrix Potter-ville and utterly adorable. The tour by Cliff the guide was informational and clearly he is fond of the Russells and what they achieved. Not just with Tūpare, but also Pukeiti gardens at the foot of Taranaki Maunga. Perfect to-do on a rainy day, even better in the sun.

This is a shared cycle/walkway. We have both walked and cycled it many times from Bell Block to the Ports.
It's just fantastic the changing views of the sea and farmland, bridges, swimming pool etc.
When cycling you have to be really careful as people walking with headphones on don't hear you ringing your bike bell and others just seem to be watching cloud formations and just seem to wander in front of you.
Would be great if everyone could walk/cycle to the left.

This trail branches off the coastal trail and follows a creek. You forget that you are in a city. A good place to get some exercise.
