Well worth a visit, very interesting geothermal area. Get there early as it does get crowded (it’s on the bus tour route). The Lady Knox Geyser is vastly over rated…you have to get in your car and drive to another car park then wait for ages with 200 others to see one eruption (10 meters, 30 seconds) before scuttling back to the car, fighting your way out of the car park back to where you started. Give it a miss, let the other visitors go, and enjoy the rest of the park almost on your own for an hour. The geysers at Whakarewarewa are far better.

This is a nice walk, especially if you haven’t seen large trees like sequoias and redwoods before. It’s very pretty and nice for spending a couple of hours.

We booked for just the cultural experience as we have 2 toddlers and wanted a non-pressured day.

The cultural experience was really good, well-explained to non-Māori/NZ visitors and probably one of the best things we’ve done in NZ. Our children found it fascinating and still talk about it.

However one aspect really bothered us . The whole experience was led by a women and for the most part women danced throughout - but at the end only the men were invited to learn some aspects of the Haka up on the stage. Women and girls were actively removed from the stage and for my 3yo daughter this was (thankfully) the first visible experience she has had of gender discrimination. While I understand that some dances are done by men and some by all, the fact that this had followed a 30 minute performance with women dancing throughout, could have been managed better. Either offer opportunities for both gendered dances, or allow everyone to learn the “main” Haka. It took the shine off the day and is still (4 weeks later) something our daughter mentions which is not the one thing I would have wanted her to take from an otherwise fantastic and moving experience.

We signed up for the Te Puia geyser experience at night. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences I've ever had. The geysers are massive and very active. They are lit up at night and, with a starry sky, it's magical. We had a two hour walk and observation of the geysers and saw them erupt. It was spectacular. The guide explained that the main geyser is the largest in the southern hemisphere.

Fabulous. Would recommend:) Mostly gentle downhill walk - fabulous views and a lovely relaxing cruise - including crater and geyser with bus back.

We popped in for a tasting and cheese board following our Zorb adventure (just down the street) and had a really enjoyable time. The gondola ride up was fun and clearly the view was fantastic. We also really enjoyed out host, Graham, and the wines were very tasty and a great value.

A great day visiting the grand children loved feeding the animals and the fish. The whole experience and the paths where perfect for walking on. The highlight for the kids was patting the lion cubs. A great day out and lots of memories made.

Great city centre park which is free to walk around. You can dip your feet in the hot dis water or just enjoy seeing the geothermal activity in the hot water pools.

I took my son and family here not expecting to enjoy it myself, however I did, it was a very interesting place to visit, we saw Kiwi birds , parrots and many other birds, fish in natural rivers, fish hatcheries, and beautiful plants. Fun water boat trip which I enjoyed several times, it is really nicely done. Bit disappointed in lack of choice in the restaurant but everywhere else was well worth a visit, considering there was 3 generations visiting.
