Ian was very inviting when we join the group at our pick up point .
Ian kept us informed on the running's of the day.
He was also very knowledgeable on the area and history of the area.

Booking online was easy and True South contacted me to let me know that weather can cause cancellations and that they would try to rebook us if that happened. Check in was very straight forward and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Our flight was on a Cessna Grand Caravan and the pilot, Henry, explained things patiently and always checked to make sure everyone was comfortable before takeoff and during the flight. He pointed out landmarks and let us know when good opportunities for pictures were coming up.

Not a short journey by all means, you will have Warren taking care of you and keeping you entertained as without him it would have been a plain journey.

Our guide James was super friendly, informative and also great at time keeping for the busy day without making us feel rushed. The stops along the way to Milford sound felt very thought out and were all beautiful. Would definitely recommend opting in for the packed lunch as it was fresh and made the cruise even more enjoyable.

One part is the boat ride over and back where you see some amazing scenery in all directions.
Another part is the information session where you learn about both the cave system and the glow worms.
And the third is the walk through the caves before boarding a punt that quietly drifts along while pinpricks of light can be seen on both sides and overhead, and eels and fish can be seen in some of the still ponds.
All of that was absolutely fascinating, but for me it was the rushing and pounding of the river and its waterfalls that showed how the caves were made tens of thousands of years ago.
The boat crew and tour guides were terrific.

- Gina G16 contributionsWe are on a 4 week visit to Australia and New Zealand and this cruise is by far my favorite excursion so far. The drive into Milford Sound is amazing and the views from the cruise boat were out of this world. The number of waterfalls was unbelievable and the geology and flora are amazing. We saw fur seals and a few rare crested penguins. The weather was very favorable on the first hour, and rainy on the second hour. A cruise with a hard rain and low cloud cover would likely result in a different experience, so be prepared for that. Would recommend a morning cruise rather than the afternoon as it seems to rain more frequently in this area in the afternoon. Also, we chose one the tour groups with a smaller vessel and were glad we did. When we come off the vessel, the ticketing building was wall-to-wall people waiting to get on the afternoon cruises, presumably with the larger vessels. - jamieclowerSilverado, CA38 contributionsMilford Sound is undoubtably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Our tour with Southern Discoveries was perfectly adequate. Large boat (not full to capacity, which was nice), good amenities, overall comfortable. We didn't get a lot of commentary but spent about an hour cruising out and then back in the fjord. Rain in the morning produced tons of waterfalls, with the clouds parting to reveal glorious blue skies on our return.
The underwater observatory was a nice activity, but stretched a little long.
If you're debating between Milford and Doubtful Sounds - do both.
