Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It may seem odd that a cemetery is a tourist attraction but the Japanese Cemetery in Broome is more a history lesson and an interesting one , more than a tourist site. There are 919 people buried in 707 graves, all neatly maintained many with their original sandstone head stones with inscriptions in Kanji showing names, from where they came in Japan, the birth and death dates. Many died from diving illnesses but some from cyclones and other incidents. Well worthy of a visit.

Enjoyed learning the history with regards to the Cemetery especially since China town has such an impact on trade in Broome. Enjoyable visit.

This cemetery is located near the 9 Zeros, 9 Stories memorial ad overlooks Roebuck Bay. It is the final resting place for the men who died at sea in the 1880s. Today, some members of Broome’s oldest families have been buried here. There was once a mass grave for the Dutch refugees from Indonesia who died when their boats were sunk during the Broome Air Raid of 1942. After the war, they were interred someplace else. A plaque marks the original burial site.
