Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Molly F3 contributionsThe tour was great, the guide was lovely and very knowledgeable - shame it was raining! Only recommendation would be for the tour to be an hour rather than an hour and a half, it felt a little like some bits were repetition.Written 4 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - POLLYANNA57Queensland, Australia520 contributionsKnew of Free Circle Trams. Brilliant Tourism effort. Bought passes from a 7 Eleven but suggest if stay short don’t put a lot of money on to start. We only left Free Circle to go to St Kilda. Easy and enjoyable. Rest of the visit we hopped on and off Trams which were all in Free Zone. GPS on our Mobiles didn’t work because of Hi Rise interference so recommend a good paper map.Written 30 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alice G7 contributionsA fantastic experience! We visited the MCG and toured the ground with our excellent guide Graeme. Graeme was helpful, knowledgable and enthusiastic about the MCG and found we learnt a lot about the grounds history. The ticket was reasonably priced with entry to the sports museum included which was great for young children. We fully enjoyed our time at the MCGWritten 17 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Kai CHalf Moon Bay, CA1,211 contributionsSpacious museum with an outstanding collection of Venetian glass, English porcelain, Gandharan Buddha statues, Sisley, Pisarro and an incredible Toltec Chacmool. They could not escape lamentation about the "black bodies" and the inevitable inclusion of substandard art based on gender/race but this is to be expected. Nice garden, stained glass roof.Written 21 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,836 contributionsBlock Arcade is a survivor of Marvelous Melbourne. The mosaic are intricately worked and the Classical style is impressive. A number of shops are doing business including Haigh's Chocolates and the Dr Seuss Gallery. Block Arcade can be entered either from Elizabeth Street or Collins Street. Block Arcade is a Melbourne icon.Written 23 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AbbottHsuSerang, Indonesia788 contributionsPretty good, designated and well organized layout inside. Visitors can easily find the way to see all kinds of animals. Since it is semi-open space, you can feel the natural and primitive atmosphere by searching those animals. Too be honest, it is not easy to see lots of animals in close distance. Kids are so happy to take a look at those creatures. A good opportunity to teach and interact with kids in zoo. You can spend half day inside to explore what you want. However, sometimes some animals may hide, sleep or go anywhere so that they are not available when you visit.
For me and kids, it is a wonderful experience to visit this historical zoo. Easy to take Trams or Metro trains here. Enjoy.Written 4 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Other superb sections are those about invertebrates (spiders, ants, bees...), and the colonization of Australia (digging gold, early industrialization). The weakest section by far is the aboriginal one, which (apart from the amazing boats) focuses on feel-good, information-less videos. Given the location one is amazed the Museum was not able to bring forth one of the best world collections about Poly-Mela-Micronesia and aboriginal beliefs, traditions, culture but this was not to be.Written 22 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,836 contributionsThe Old Melbourne Gaol is sinister, but it is quite fascinating. It was Melbourne's principal gaol for many years, when the prisoners were locked up in tiny cells. Many prisoners were hanged there, including Australia's most famous bushranger, Ned Kelly. Many of the prisoners were pathetic, they were obviously mentally ill. The Old Melbourne Gaol is one of Melbourne's top tourist attractions, be sure to book in advance.Written 22 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve WSheffield, UK11 contributionsIt’s always further to walk than it looks, but a worthwhile relaxation close to the city. - JohnstannoSingapore, Singapore368 contributionsWe love to walk along the Southbank at night enjoying its beauty. There are lots of restaurants and the riverside was bustling with people and activities at night. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,836 contributionsSt Patrick's Cathedral is the cathedral of the Catholic Church in Melbourne. St Parrick's is a neo-gothic Church, built mainly of bluestone, a favorite building material in the 19th century. St Patrick's was named for St Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. In days gone by, many Catholics in Melbourne had Irish ancestry.Written 23 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
