Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Kamal PByron Bay, Australia9,512 contributionsEnormous in size the Melbourne Zoo was a great place to spend our Sunday. We found it to be a very beautifully laid out and landscaped precinct with pathways designed to make the walk very comfortable with various animal sculptures to make the environment attractive giving photo opportunity to the visitors. Animal enclosures were spread out and beautiful vegetation were occupying the spaces almost camouflaging each area. There were many species of birds outside the cages enjoying the freedom in the nature making the Zoo their habitat. A family of Australian wood ducks parading around in the picnic and park area was an attractive scene for the little children who enjoyed their presence. It was a lesson to them to see how parents escort the brood around park protecting them from danger. Butterfly enclosure was a fantastic area with so many colourful butterflies under one shelter.Written 23 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,659 contributionsThe University of Melbourne is one of Australia's pre-eminent universities. The main campus is located in Parkville, an inner-city Melbourne suburb. It is known as the Sandstone University; it never ceases to evolve. The University of Melbourne's first Chancellor was Sir Redmond Barry, an Anglo-Irish jurist. From its foundation in 1853, the university continued to expand, spurred by the wealth generated by the Great Australian Gold Rush. The University of Melbourne offers many professional level courses, aimed at local and overseas students.Written 20 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,659 contributionsRoyal Park is a large inner park on the outskirts of the City of Melbourne. In fact, it's the most expansive park in the City. The park has a wide range of sporting facilities, and an up-to-date playground for children. The Royal Park Golf Course is a breeding place for champions, and it's only 3 km (2 miles) from the City. He best place to access the park is through Gatehouse St.Written 14 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,659 contributionsPercy Grainger (1882-1961) was born in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Brighton. He spent much of his life overseas, where he won acclaim as a pianist, arranger, folklorist and composer. The Grainger Museum, on the Parkville campus of the University of Melbourne, is said to be the only museum devoted to a single individual in Australia. Currently, the museum features Grainger's devotion to self-flagelation. It's best to check on opening hours before you go. By the way, I think the exterior of the museum is ugly, but the exhibitions are interesting.Written 23 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wardlow is a boom period Italianate metropolitan middle class house that dates back to the 1880s. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,659 contributionsThe Old Quad and Law School is an events space and museum on the University of Melbourne's Parkville Campus. It was constructed in 1856, making it one of the University's original buildings. The site is an impressive example of the stonemasons' art. The Old Quad had a key role in Australia's industrial history. In April 1856, workers walked off the job and marched into the City demanding an 8 Hour Day, which they eventually achieved. The Old Quad has a commemorative plaque attesting to this fact.Written 7 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NZer_101Christchurch, New Zealand281 contributionsFound my way to this spot within Melbourne University only to find it closed. Several other university museums were either not accessible to the public or had nothing on display. Others were open and marvellous, like the Grainger.Written 12 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - platypus150Melbourne, Australia32,861 contributionsThe playground is attractive and is adjacent to extensive lawns, plus picnic tables and BBQs. All it lacks are public toilets, which are near the Trin Warren Tamboore lakes nearby.Written 7 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul LHallam, Australia997 contributionsOK first thing is first - this museum can be a little hard to find. Partly because ... well it's just hard to find on campus. Google maps don't help, signage for some aspects of the university is great but this little collection doesn't rate a mention for the most part. And nobody you ask knows where it is.
But if you do persist and find it then you'll climb up to the second floor to be presented with ... a library. And off to one side is a room that is more full of Indigenous artworks and the like than anything pertaining to medical history. It's a pretty small collection to be honest. Nicely laid out - very nicely in fact - but it's such a small collection it's hard to feel satisfied.
Around the library are a few other pieces of interest but honestly you can give this one a miss unless you have a particular bent for the medical.Written 19 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,659 contributionsThe Chemistry Building at the University of Melbourne has always been a landmark on the campus. It has been extensively renovated in contemporary style, befitting its status as an academic center of excellence. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,659 contributionsThis reserve is rather plain, It fronts on Flemington Road then runs backwards for quite a way. The children's playground is fun for the younger ones. Apart from the toilet, there's also a water fountain. Eivers Reserve is easy to access from Flemington Road, it's a good place to kick a ball around.Written 14 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
