Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Ed DSwansea, UK650 contributionsStill an amazing place to watch Melbourne life go by especially when the sun is out like late today but their prices seem to be elevated almost as high as the bar. Quite expensive which isn't good considering the state of the bar - needs cleaning and some basic maintenance.Written 18 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan BPerth, Australia227 contributionsHubby loves his whiskey, so a visit here was high on our priorities for our trip to Melbourne.
Staff were great, letting us know where the free seats were when we arrived. Huge whiskey choice naturally.
I don’t drink whiskey, but took one for the team - with my first Whisky Sour. Pretty darn good.
A must visit!Written 9 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We came in the afternoon when it opened and came back later on and it was too busy to even get a table so you need to get in early and hang around. They have live music as well.Written 2 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- platypus150Melbourne, Australia32,398 contributionsI was in the area, so dropped in to sample the wines and have a late lunch. Food included: mushrooms, olives, cheeses, and pizze. I had a mushroom pizza and was very happy with it. I was offered some good advice and took on a glass of the Ansonica wine (a white from a Southern Italian grape), grown in Merbein. It was good, too. I did like the cellar feel to the place and will bring friends back here.Written 1 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - platypus150Melbourne, Australia32,398 contributionsWe were just walking past and dropped in for a Saturday arvo drink. My friend had the Austrian Riesling (full of perfume and not sweet), while I had a Wolf in the Willows XPA beer from the tap. The prices were good, the advice from the barman helpful, and the quality just right. We found comfortable seats inside (out of the weather) and browsed the many wines in bottle.Written 3 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Melanie KMelbourne, Australia61 contributionsIve been here a couple of times with work mates and always enjoy myself. Unlike the other karaoke bars you dont have to book and can just wander in. - Kin Cheong L1 contributionHave walked by this store many times when visiting the South Melbourne Markets, but have always been scared to walk in.
This place is not a regular bottle shop, it’s an unexplored paradise!
Made a visit with my partner on Friday afternoon, was greeted by the manager Jonathan who introduced us to independent bottlers, and poured a few drams for us.
The owner Jose then came with cute dog who appeared on the labels of the bottles, he was very generous and poured me a couple more whiskies.
My partner had a great time also, she doesn’t drink whisky - but now she’s hooked on Clase Azul tequila, and we were told these guys were the importers of this treat!
We went away purchasing a couple bottles, and shared them with my friends.
Such an amazing place - hidden gem in plain sight.
Wish we took better photos. Can’t wait to be back!Written 7 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
