Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- EmanpeeSydney, Australia2,730 contributionsA well organised tour with maximun of around 15 people in each group. Good background history and you see interesting areas of the brewery. Tasting paddle a good way to finish, with alternative options for non beer drinkers. Restaurant/bar next to gardens is an attractive lunch venue/Written 17 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nicola R1 contributionAbsolutely Fantastic POSH PIT Cruise to Mona return. Izzy & Max were our Hosts. Great range of canapes and beverages on offer, all included in the price. Nothing was a problem and the boat decor was gorgeous... Absolutely lovely. Well worth the money - from The Crazy Ones Nikki & Lee 😁Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EmmaQWollongong, Australia136 contributionsI learnt so much! There were only 2 of us on our tour (it was a cold mid week tour) and I felt very welcomed. The guide gave us a detailed tour of the prison and I very much enjoyed the show inside of the court. We went underground through the tunnels and as it was so cold I really felt how awful it would have been. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This is a great museum for history buffs. - Stephen HBrisbane, Australia3 contributionsWe visited the Mawsons replica hut on Monday 23 Sept, arriving late in the day around 4:30pm. Another couple had just arrived and one of the team members was finishing up, leaving one person to look after us until closing.
This was a memorable experience, and I recommend it to anyone who visits Hobart and in particular has an interest in explorer history, the outdoors and the environment. The resources onsite are excellent, with ample information about the Australasian Antarctic Expedition, the Antarctic environment, the established hut and life at and around the hut. What impressed me most of all was the information and insight given by the assistant. She would be providing information to the other couple, who were in a different part of the hut, and while I was talking to my wife, she would jump in and add answer our questions, some before we asked them, in an almost omnipresent manner.
Once we were all in the living quarters of the hut, she then took us through the arrangements, the equipment and living conditions. There was no question she couldn’t answer. Through this combination of pictures, printed words, audio and then Q&A, I felt made this an experience not to be missed. And to think the Hobart City Council was considering knocking down this gem in 2019 (Mawson’s Huts Foundation says it remains in limbo about the future of its Hobart museum - realestate.com.au)
Keep up the amazing work! That young lady who looked after us earned a few of her stripes that day. We really appreciated the knowledge, energy and passion and I will be making a donation to the cause.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We loved seeing the house and hearing about the life its residents. Its well-tended and original garden provides a peaceful oasis that I’d heartedly recommend. We got a great education about the history of colonial Hobart, with a bonus generous morning tea featuring freshly made scones, cream and yummy home made jams.Written 15 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lynne V11 contributionsSo much to do in such a beautiful city. Battery Point an especially beautiful part to be based in.
Needed a car due to hills, unless very fit - parking is fairly easy to find.
Drive up to Mt Wellington on a clear day; Salamanca area great to explore with great eateries etc, including Saturday markets; Constitution Dock, Cascade Brewery and Mawson Hut museum were all highlights. Botanical Gardens so worth a visit.
Wineglass Bay cruise on the East Coast, with lunch, was also great - approx 3hrs drive to meet cruise from Hobart accom. A relaxing and beautiful week.Written 30 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was nice to see the crafts, locally made goods and different artisans. We look forward to seeing the Salamanca market which is only on Saturdays.Written 9 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AndrewHobart, Australia47 contributionsWow...what a great little museum. Very interesting and my little grandson was enthralled with the exhibits. Highly recommend going on a day when the steam train is running. It's been a long time since passenger trains have run in Tasmania so it's a novelty to ride on one.Written 2 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cameron S1 contributionHave visited Lark’s cellar door 3 out of the 5 days we stayed in Hobart. The cocktails are top tier (best variation of an old fashion I’ve had in a minute!!). The staff and venue manager Dante were incredibly hospitable and professional, with in-depth knowledge of whisky inclusive of international as well as their own!!
Would highly recommend this place if you’re into moody/speakeasy style bars with vast cocktail and whisky knowledgeWritten 4 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris RobertsStratford-upon-Avon, UK51 contributionsThis historic merchants house is from the 1830s and the house displays items from the period with the rooms decked accordingly. The difference between the owners upstairs the servants was well explained.

I didn't realise that it was a pontoon structure until mentioned by someone on our boat cruise. When I checked, I discovered that it is a four storey floating pier. The MONA ferry operates from there and its a stop for the Red Decker, Mt Wellington Bus, Skybus and others. Good variety of bars and restaurants, and Tasmanian produce stallholders.Written 24 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
