Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Considering the small size of this museum there’s a lot to see and read about. Very interesting history.

Very good centrally located museum and a fine old building.
Displays are on ground entry level and first floor.
Good mix of sea/water navigation in Tasmania with Tasmanian indigenous displays through to the 1970's bridge disaster.
Nice little souvenir/retail area and super helpful friendly staff.
Would recommend even if 'boat stuff' isn't your thing.

We went for a kids birthday party and fun was had by old and young. Steam train rides are a great novelty and they have a wealth of different cool old vehicles.

It is unusual to see a historic house with such strong art and craft movement theme. Having the house preserved as how the family left it provided a sense of intimacy and integrity. The story behind the family was a history chapter of its own. Friendly staff and insightful information card for a self-guided tour. Garden was a delight.
