Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Gai H17 contributionsBeautiful old Cathedral with magnificent stained glass windows. If you are lucky enough to be visiting, or walking past when the bells are rung, you are in for a treat!Written 10 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - phil LMelbourne, Australia47 contributionsThe Synagogue was established in 1845 and is the oldest in Australia. In its earliest days, it had special seating arrangements for Jewish convicts. The many plaques and honour boards provide an insight to its history. It is worth s visit, which can be booked in advance.Written 18 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BigMerkGlasgow, UK2,707 contributionsI was visiting Hobart for the day from a cruise ship and decided to see St Joseph’s. It’s very centrally located although parking may be an issue. The church inside and out is lovely. It’s a small church and very traditional lookingWritten 4 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ArchaeobuffSydney, Australia2,033 contributionsYou only need to see the facade view from the street as this is the best part of this church. It is an outrageous Neo classical facade on the top of a hill in Battery Point framed by old trees. I just loved it for its total disregard for its surrounding architecture.Written 24 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - westy54Sydney, Australia13,291 contributionsThis impressive building sits high above Harrington Street and shares the large block of land with St Mary's College and St Virgil's College.
The original Cathedral was opened in 1866 however due to structural problems with the original construction the Cathedral was largely dismantled and rebuilt to a modified design between 1876 and 1881. The steeple was added sometime after this.
Internally the church has a central nave with two side aisles separated by sandstone Gothic arches. The church has two transepts, a sanctuary and a vestry. There are also a number of very ornate stained glass windows as well as a Norman period baptismal font. I thought the altar was quite simple given the style of the rest of the Cathedral. The ceiling was made of timber.
Unfortunately, whilst the Cathedral was open, we could only view the interior from behind a glass wall which stopped us from seeing the interior properly. It also stopped us from viewing the organ.Written 25 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The site is now being developed into residences. However, St Peter's Lutheran Church services are temporarily being held on Sundays at 10.00 am at the Eastside Lutheran College, in Flagstaff Gully, Lindisfarne.Written 26 August 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
