Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- robyn aWollongong, Australia33 contributionsIf you're in Hobart when the markets are on they are well worth a visit. We explored the variety of craft, food and drink stalls before find a table and chairs and sitting back enjoying a glass or two of Hurly Burly pinot noir which was very good, listening to the entertainment and enjoying the best spring rolls from Filipino Street food.Written 5 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael C1 contributionBeautiful gallery, incredible range of Tasmanian made products to buy. Art objects, homewares, garden sculptures, jewellery, lighting & stunning Tasmanian timbers. Lovely, friendly staff. Prices from $5 to $5000. Best retail gallery in Tasmanian for sure!Written 6 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Richard TBurnley, UK1,295 contributionsThis is not your usual street market. It is quality, lots of local variety, large, and thriving, held every Saturday. A mix of local produce, especially fruit, wine, spirits (including free tasting) as well as quality handicrafts. One of the best markets I have ever been to, so if you are visiting Tassie, make sure you are in Hobart on a Saturday. Curried scallop pies from Smiths are the quintessential local dish. Bligh rums were also fabulous.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Skye MLondon, UK3 contributionsA hidden treasure in Hobart. Magnificent love and care is poured (quite literally!) into every chocolate, not to mention the incredible hot chocolate!!! Giovanni (John) & his team truly have a magical chocolate business. You’ll never find a better chocolate nor a warmer and more welcoming experience.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Diantha WSalt Lake City, UT138 contributionsBest chocolate I have ever tasted. Thoughtful sourcing of cocoa as well! Although the pandemic has significantly impacted the chocolatiers, we still learned a lot about the chocolate-making process from them at their new site under construction. It will be an even richer experience when they can show more of their process. We’re already almost out of our melt-in-your-mouth treats! When any additions are required they use Tasmanian products. The chocolate-covered honeycomb and chocolate ginger bites were my favorite. The owners are now also cultivating a vineyard (Every Man and His Dog). They are conveniently located on the busy tourist path between Hobart and Port Arthur—definitely make time for a stop.Written 19 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PeteGreater Hobart, Australia7 contributionsA jewellery collective is a comparatively rare thing. Here in Hobart within a marvellous Salamanca Place precinct there is a jewellery makers' collective that is remarkable in its quality and diversity., called FIND. There are eleven makers (I think) and always one on duty so you can get insight into the design and manufacturing processes involved.Written 21 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trek70708313 contributionsThe funky name of the shop first caught my eye, and as soon as I could I made a bee line for it. Packed full of the most innovative and sustainable gifts and gadgets I've seen in a long while. The staff were so helpful and courteous. I also fell in love with all the electric bikes.Written 8 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- NZAlecWellington, New Zealand63 contributionsRight at the end of the Salamanca Wharf area, away from the Salamanca Place shops and restaurants. We were staying just next door to Sidewalk Tribal, and discovered it as we were on a walk around Battery Point. A real treasure trove. Genuine artefacts - we could have spent hours in there. A wide selection of African, Asian, Pasifika things. From very large to small. Ethnic clothing and Jewellery. African/PNG masks, various wood/stone carvings. Priced across the range from high to very reasonable. And they are all the real deal. Interesting, friendly owner without being pushy too. Totally recommend it.Written 15 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Covers a great range of topics and has a cute selection of 2nd hand titles that were interesting to look through. Managed to pick up a great bargain for $7.
