The Hobart Convict Penitentiary exceeded all expectations. Tour guide Jim was a wealth of knowledge on the history of the site. Would certainly recommend taking the time to visit. This place doesn’t seem to get the recognition of the importance in our history that it deserves.

This is a faithful recreation of the hut that still exists in Antarctica to this day. Very informative and great value for money. The staff are passionate and keen to share their knowledge and there is a huge wealth of information throughout the displays. If you are interested in exploration from a bygone era this attraction is a must visit.

A really fascinating museum with plenty to see for everyone and every interest. We focused mainly on the art exhibits which were varied and well displayed. Great for our son’s art project. Clearly displayed and labelled works of art and artefacts. A good trio dnd free entry. Staff in the gift shop were super helpful.
Be warned they will remove your water bottles from you on entry.

Lyn, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. We are so lucky to be able to access a family home that is as it was when the family last lived there. So much Tasmanian history attached to one home.

Interesting historical walk. I also took the opportunity to chat with a father and daughter who were fishing off a wharf near one of the sculpture points. Australians are very friendly, generally, and pleased to chat with visitors. They have a relaxing attitude toward life. As the father replied as I wished them luck, "It's called fishing, not catching".
