What travellers are saying
- magyk85Zurich, Switzerland250 contributionsVisited Flinders Chase on a windy, overcast September day. Visit the Visitors Centre first and get a map and info; some roads are currently closed. Admirals Arch and the Remarkable Rocks are splendid. If you wish to hike some, be sure to take a full day. Gets dark around 6pm, drive carefully and beware of Roos, take you time if you’re staying at Kingscote it’s still a long drive.Written 10 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JAMNNewcastle, Australia446 contributionsThe small entry fee for the self-guided tour which allows you to take modern wooden walkway to a lookout area, then down to the dunes and beach. Amazing opportunity if you are on Kangaroo Island.Written 3 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ee Tatt LimMagill, Australia1 contributionCandice our buggy tour driver was very friendly and pleasant. She explained things very well and managed to grab the kids interest from our 4yo, 11, 12, and 13yo children. Ask for Candice and you won’t be disappointed!Written 17 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- The Walking CriticPerth, Australia1,085 contributionsMy son is a big fan of wildlife parks and we tried to add this to the tail end of a one-day visit to Flinders National Park. Our mission was to avoid driving at dusk to avoid any chance of hitting kangaroos or other animals on the way home.
I'm not sure if the winter months make this place look more drab and unkept, but it did have a somewhat 'sad' feeling to the park. May be it was the grey skies that late afternoon. That being said, the koalas looked immensely happy and hungry as they munched through some eucalyptus leaf branches.
The kangaroos were a big hit with both my son and us parents. They were so friendly when they approached, using their claws to gently pull the food that we held in our hands, closer to their mouthes. Great photo ops for families.
The rest of the park we rushed through, so as to get on the road with the last remaining light. We did not want to contribute to the roadkill, that sadly litters the whole island.
We did get to see the penguins in their enclosure swimming, but this compounded my view of the park being a 'sad' and soulless area.Written 6 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The training of the birds is fantastic. A highlight of our Kangaroo Island visit.Written 19 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JAMNNewcastle, Australia446 contributionsThere are 2 key locations from the carpark. The closer lookout enables you to watch the countless seals playing, swimming or just lazing around. It takes some time to see them all however, worth the effort. There is also a boardwalk which takes you down to view the seals closer and see the beautiful Admirals Arch. The National Park Service has done a fantastic job in construction the boardwalk, along with a viewing platform at the Arch. Well worth the drive and walk.Written 7 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Doriane I1 contributionGreat experience! Easy walk and lots of koala sightings. Guide was great. Saw also birds, kangaroos, black swans. We were there with our 23 months old and it went smoothly. Learned about the 2020 bushfires and how nature recovers! Very interesting.Written 27 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JAMNNewcastle, Australia446 contributionsViews from the carpark, closer viewing deck and on the rocks themselves is a great experience. Photos don’t do justice to how spectacular the natural rock formations are. The board walk makes it easy to get from the large carpark area down to the rocks and allows to take in the flora and coastline before reaching the rocks. A definite must if travelling to Kangaroo Island.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - magyk85Zurich, Switzerland250 contributionsAwesome beach, getting to it is (almost) the best bit. Best beach I’ve seen on KI, forget Emu Beach.Stokes Beach was recommended to me by the Rental Car employee, and it was an excellent tip!
Took the North Coast Road, which is unsealed so take your time - watch out for Wildlife!
You have to enter the beach by climbing through boulders, on the right hand side of the rockpool beach is a yellow sign. Gets narrow at one point, but the views on ‘the other side’ are so worth it.
It’s September so not really beachy weather, but enjoyed the walk along the beach.Written 10 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrookeBarwick26New South Wales, Australia118 contributionsWe did the tour a couple of weeks ago, and definitely not disappinted. Our guide (the owner) was so knowledgable, friendly and welcoming. You can tell that the penguins welfare is #1 priority.
We were super lucky and got to see about 20 penguins! It was wonderful to be able to see them in their natural habitatWritten 5 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a lovely drive out to lighthouse and once arriving it was amazing. It is a beautiful quiet area up on the top of a hill overlooking all of the ocean. Lots of kangaroos around too. Did a couple of the walks around the area which was lovely.
Highly recommend checking out this lighthouse.Written 3 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
