What travellers are saying
- tmlie88 contributionsA must visit site in Kangaroo Island, around 150 km from Kingscote. Need to pay a park fee (daily or two days) at the entrance of the park. Best to have a 4WD to fully enjoy all the sites that the park has to offer. Must visit on a day trip would be the Cape de Coudie lighthouse and look out point (unfortunately cannot access into the lighthouse), Admiral Arch and the Iconic Remarkable rocks. All are located along the same paved road.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tmlie88 contributionsThe best place to see the endangered Australian Sea Lions which can only be found in Australia. Entrance fee is required but definitely worth the money. One can take the self boardwalk tour or pay a higher fee for the guided tour (do check on their website for the timings) which allows you to walk on the beach, even closer to these wonderful creatures. Do visit their small education centre and touch the skin of these lovely animals. Only issue is that it closes by 5pm and last entry is 430pm.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ozallan21Brisbane, Australia83 contributionsWe had a private experience here with the birds of prey which was magical. To see the birds up close and to handle them is a memory that will last a long time. Staff were great - very friendly and knowledgeable.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ee Tatt LimMagill, Australia1 contributionCandice our buggy tour driver was very friendly and pleasant. She explained things very well and managed to grab the kids interest from our 4yo, 11, 12, and 13yo children. Ask for Candice and you won’t be disappointed!Written 17 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tmlie88 contributionsOne of the must visit places whilst you are in Flinders Chase National Park Kangaroo Island. Lovely scenery and one can also see Sea Lions lying on the rocks next to the Admiral Arch.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Doriane I1 contributionGreat experience! Easy walk and lots of koala sightings. Guide was great. Saw also birds, kangaroos, black swans. We were there with our 23 months old and it went smoothly. Learned about the 2020 bushfires and how nature recovers! Very interesting.Written 27 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - brambleyoneWest Midlands109 contributionsWe had visited here on a previous trip to KI and both supported them following the terrible wild fires and adopted an adorable koala called Blue. We returned to see how the island and islanders were recovering and, again, this was one of the highlights of our stay. We took advantage of the private tour and, although it is not cheap, it offers the opportunity to interact with the animals and learn all about them on a one to one tour, so it is well worth it in that you learn so much and can ask any questions you like. The young man who took us round was extremely well informed and we were able to go where we wanted and stay as long as we wanted with the animals which particularly interested us. We also visited the 'hospital' cabin where a young joey rescued from its dead mother's pouch on the road side was being reared and prepared to return to life in the wild.
These folk had to face the wild fires head on but did not abandon their charges and played a huge part in the rescue effort. They also help run an across the island rescue service for any animals found injured or sick. As such, they are to be congratulated and supported. Well done, Dana & Co and all the best to little Blue in his retirement!Written 21 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tmlie88 contributionsThe most must visit site in Flinders Chase National Park in my opinion. Truly remarkable to be able not only to see but to be standing on pure granite rocks. On a clear day its a very instagram worthy site.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- limeclawPerth, Australia2,657 contributionsProbably the easiest lighthouse to get to when visiting Kangaroo Island. Well maintained attraction, huge lighthouse and lovely walking trails. The cottage gardens are lovely, even though they have many snake warnings. Lovely informative staff.Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GregTrav28Orlando, FL624 contributionsIt's a good beach no doubt but not one of the beat beaches in the world like the NYT says. Not even the best beach on the north part of KI. If you have limited time then I'd skip this beach. Those aside it is a cool beach. The walk through the caves was long and fun. The beach itself is nice, but when you have so many great ones on KI it's a let down. It would be hard to lug all your stuff from the parking lot to the beach and the rip tides are strong there. Its more of a beach to walk around not really swim and the water felt extra cold despite being about 28degC outside. If you make the trip watch out for the way Google maps take you. It will take you down a dirt road which is supposed to be faster but because we had just a sedan we had to drive pretty slow and it was much longer. Took almost 25 mins more. There is a way to get there fully on paved road so just find that ahead of time.Written 8 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DoubledaresAdelaide, Australia39 contributionsAs it wasn't the best season we thought we may not see the penguins but the guide was excellent. She knew exactly where to look while keeping the birds' welfare as her primary concern. We were delighted to see them in their rocky nests with some chicks. A very relaxing, informative and worthwhile experience. Don't miss it if you have the chance.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
