Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived earlier than 10am so the pedestrian entry was closed, walked up the road and entered via the gardens at the main entrance. Paid the entry fee to explore the interior of the house. Morning guided tour (no bookings needed) wasn’t til 11.30am so short walk to the new cafe at the carpark and had a delicious scone with jam & cream and coffee. Yum! Only a small group in our free guided tour. Diane was our guide and she was superb. Just over an hour and we learnt a lot. Enjoyed seeing the tapestries and all the paintings. Gardens weren’t as beautiful as I expected for Spring. They would be better in October when all the roses are in bloom.Written 28 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PennynDavidPerth, Australia23 contributionsWe travelled Gold Class over Christmas from Brisbane to Adelaide. Having travelled on the Indi-Pacific several years ago, we knew what to expect. The food and drinks, both onboard and during the very well organised excursions, are plentiful and of very high standard. The staff are all extremely friendly, fun and helpful. Their great teamwork endeavours to meet every need. The cabins are compact but contain everything needed. Bunks are erected and concealed,as appropriate, by highly efficient staff. This provides a private space if/when required, or guests can choose to mix with others in the lounge bar. Sadly, it is very difficult to sleep due to the surprisingly bumpy/noisy ride over the tracks (not sure who is to blame for this). We will look forward to future JBR travels.Written 26 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ann MMilwaukee, WI28 contributionsI absolutely loved my experience at the Unique Opal Mine in Adelaide. I had only intended to see the mine downstairs and maybe buy an unpolished stone, but Elijah Ponte, one of the jewelers there, was so engaging and knowledgeable, that my interest was immediately piqued. He really took his time with us, and I ended up buying a gorgeous opal ring that is absolutely stunning. Now I wish I had bought earrings, too!Written 8 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- KiwiJubesGeelong, Australia21 contributionsJackie was our tour guide and shared her knowledge and passion for the business, as well as the technical aspects of the operations. She had a naturally warm and friendly way. She wasn't just recalling a pre rehersed script. There were some subtle product promotions, but again, done in such a natural way that it didn't seem contrived.
Yes there are taste testing and you do have to book in for the free tours, which are 30 mins. Would definitely pick a week day if time persists, and one part of the tour had about 5 stairs, so not sure it's all accessible.
The smell when you walk in the door of the shop is DIVINE! Well done Haighs, great job.Written 9 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our driver Danny C. was excellent. He was so informative and friendly and accommodating. He showed us a lot of Adelaide as well and again knew so much history. His van was immaculate and comfortable. - Jackie C1 contributionSteve from Cellar Door Tours was just fantastic!
We toured McLaren Vale - very intimate & Steve's knowledge of the area was excellent & had great rapport with the wine makers we met at the cellar doors we visited.
Steve was also really flexible with what we wanted to explore in the region & also went out of his way to show us the beautiful beaches of Moana, Port Noarlunga & Christies Beach on the way home.
Great day with great experiences and one that we will remember for ever - would highly recommend Cellar Door Tours.Written 3 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a great way to spend half a day or more in Adelaide. Ian was so helpful, even picking me up from the train station, which was an easy 35 mins from Adelaide central, and upgrading me to a full-suspension e-bike, with additional gel seat (as I'm not a hard-core mountain biker). The GPS worked really well and it was a great trip where I covered a lot of distance, got to see a lot of wildlife (had to break suddenly as an emu crossed my path!) and suited my level of biking, which is more trail rider than mountain biker. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who has a day to spare in Adelaide, and the train station is right next to the convention centre, so its a great trip to add to the end of your conference, like I did!Written 14 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
