A very pleasant walk, not far from the city and accessible by free city bus. Can also reach on foot within 10 - 15 minutes from the city. Some very unique trees.

Lovely Reserve with good open spaces and excellent play equipment. Also features toilets and picnic area. Be wary of cyclists as a path runs through Reserve

Although access by car has a few options, you might want to plan entry, as exiting dense traffic can be stressful. We leave Port Rd at the lights, opposite Philips Street and wind slowly right, past the cafe, to the car park.
Immediately you see the police horses which can be viewed but not fed. There's a choice of pathways, towards the lake or the cafe and we did a circle, heading to the cafe first. Unfortunately, it wasn't open, but the menu looks good and an excellent playground is nearby. We made our way along the river, down majestic stairways, watching trees with autumn leaves and a spoonbill in the water. On advice from a passer-by, we went over the small bridge to get a view from the other side and into the tunnel just for the hell of it. Back over and on to the lake, we circled it and returned to the car.
A very pretty and relaxing walk that we plan to take little relatives. Very worthwhile and totally free.

Not only does it offer a fenced off playground but it also also a good open space for ball games and plenty of mature native trees to attract native bird life. Love it

Easily accessible site with old ruins, nice views and plenty of paths to explore. Plenty of parking for those driving, and close to local bus stops too.
