Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Michelle REngadine, Australia397 contributionsThis was a great place to go up and sit and have a couple of drinks with a great view. It was quite busy and packed so only stayed for a couple of drinks then left.Written 2 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CasandraTPSydney, Australia4,206 contributionsWhen I say hidden, I really do mean hidden. The entrance is just off Peel Street in the same entrance to Bread and Bone but you go downstairs and then the door is hidden in the wall paneling. Once you find the bar you are greeted by welcoming staff who were more than helpful in finding the right cocktail. I did try the Peel Street Corpse Reviver which is definitely worth trying. There are booths to sit in or like us, we sat at the bar. If in Adelaide, you should pop in for at least one.Written 26 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We popped in on a Sunday afternoon and managed to get a table at the window which is perfect for people watching. They do have outdoor seating as well out the front. The barman was friendly and helpful in deciding which of their many delicious cocktails to try. This bar is a must visit when in Adelaide.Written 26 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- geopony86Australia107 contributionsI haven't been here since I left Uni - and let me say, its exactly the same as when I last left. Fun cocktails that go down far to easy - often with a fun fruity twist. Interesting blue lit room, with a small aquarium. Smell when you first walk in is interesting.Written 4 December 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- adelaidiantravellerAdelaide, Australia16,363 contributionsThe Lion is one of Adelaide’s iconic hotels.
It has a great tradition of providing good hospitality, and the current owners have continued that focus, with an offering which includes good food, fines wines, a relaxed ambience as well as live music and special events.
All of that makes for an appealing venue, where the management is keen to deliver a good experience for patrons.
For dining, they offer casual and more formal service, with appropriate menus for each.
In the main dining room, the food is excellent, and good value.
You can choose wine from their extensive list, or select a special wine from their Wine Room, which has a vast range of fine wines.
This is a great local pub, and a good place to relax and get together with friends.Written 18 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A fab atmosphere and a very colourful, welcoming barman to chat to. It was a bit quiet but we were there at 8pm. - tranzactnowPerth, Australia735 contributionsThis is a nice quite classy bar for a drink or two before perhaps a meal or the theatre. Comfortable surrounds and friendly staff. Prices are not unreasonable although tending to the higher side but then again you have nice surroundings and no poker machine noise which in itself is worth paying more for. A good place for a before dinner or after dinner drinkWritten 25 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - giddyin0zAdelaide, Australia151 contributionsIf you like Art Deco style, check out the lounge bar in the Playford Hotel on North Terrace. When you enter the building from North Terrace, turn right for the lounge bar. (The restaurant is through the doors to the left.) We enjoyed the coffee here, and the sumptuous but charming interior. The service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed.Written 29 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew CGawler, Australia391 contributionsPaid a visit to Empire after a recommendation. Was amazed, very nice place with quite a number of pool tables and a decent bar.
All the pool tables were in great condition and some of the best around. Plenty of space too. Staff were great and was only $16 for about an hour of play for one table!
Very decent value, it is hard to find but worth giving it a go! Some very professional players there tooWritten 13 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
