The markets are great! All undercover, parking on the upper levels (about $5 hour approx), fresh produce and some really tasty food.

We had some terrific salads and a panini for lunch, from Lucia’s in 5th Avenue from memory. Really nice baklava too, but I can’t remember the vendor. We got some yummy fresh fruit for our apartment and were on our way in about 90 minutes. You could easily spend more, or less, time here though.

For some unknown reason we always seem to end up in the botanic garden of everywhere we visit, both in Australia and overseas. So on our recent visit to Adelaide, we ended up spending an afternoon in its botanic garden. I think we have now visited the botanic garden in every capital city in Australia and Adelaide’s has to be the best by far. Simply magnificent and immaculately maintained (compliments to the gardening staff.) 51 hectares, with many of its enormous trees testimony to its age (initially established in 1855) and amazing green, manicured lawns considering South Australia is the driest state in Australia. We were fortunate to attend when Dale Chihuly had an exhibition of amazing glass blown structures scattered in various locations around the gardens, adding additional beauty to the landscape. In my capacity as a botanic garden connoisseur, this is one park you should not miss. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

the easiest stop to get on this tram is rundle mall or victoria square.

take it all the way to terminus, then get off when you see the ferris wheel

glenelg is a seaside town with amusememt park, arcade, eateries, and the mediocre beach. it is a busy place filled with locals on weekend and the last tram back to adelaide is at 12:30 am.

Wonderful experience, putting the lions to bed. So glad that we were given this outing as a gift from our daughter and the grandchildren. I recommend that everyone should do it.

Adelaide Oval was absolutely breathtaking. I had the chance to visit the stadium on my own, and as a huge cricket fan, it felt like a pilgrimage. Watching the live game there, where so many legendary moments had taken place, was an emotional experience. FanToPark made the trip even more special by organising everything from travel to ticket booking. I didn’t have to worry about a thing, and could focus entirely on soaking in the incredible atmosphere. Whether you're flying solo or with friends, FanToPark ensures you get the best out of your cricket trip.

A great place to spend a few hours. You will learn about aboriginal cultures, the deep sea, all kinds of animals and my favourite room - the Egyptian room that contains mummies of cats and people.

Being from Sydney, I didn't think there would be galleries better than ours in other states but I was wrong! the Art Gallery Of South Australia would have to be better than any of the galleries that I have seen in Sydney.
The gallery is completely free to enter, unless of course you are there for a paid exhibition and houses many amazing treasures.
My friend and I spent well over an hour walking through the art gallery and looking at all of the beautiful works of art. I was pleasantly surprised to find a digital portrait of Lady Gaga in the museum, made this Little Monster very happy

The historic State Library of South Australia is located in North Terrace, near Kintore Avenue in Adelaide. The library has specialist collections, digital collections and general collections. Beautiful Mortlock Building is a well-known location with knowledgeable critiques of the State of South Australia. Entry is free.

This venue offers tastings (or glasses) from a range of Australian wines . But each tasting is paid for separately, and the cost mounts up very quickly. We had a nice, tasty lunch there, spoiled slightly by poor quality bread. To my mind, a one-off experience.

These is something totally comforting and serene about Japanese gardens and this is certainly true of the Adelaide Himeji Garden.

Himell Garden was designed on traditional Japanese garden principles, though it plants have been adapted to the climate of Adelaide. It celebrates a sister city relationship with Himeji which city lies 480 kms to the southwest of Tokyo.

At the Himeji Garden you will find that two classic Japanese styles are combined. Here you will witness the "senzui" - a lake and mountain garden where water and the imagination conjure up images of grandeur, and the "kare kenzui" - a dry garden where rocks and sand evoke the presence of water, even in the sea itself.

When you enter the traditional gatehouse, you will see a water bowl right before you. This is the "Chozubachi" were visitor are invited to purify themselves, washing their hands and adopting a humble kneeling demeanour. And from here on out you can enjoy your contemplative walk, absorbing the perfectly manicured surroundings.

Though our visit was during the approaching winter timeframe, when much of the garden was not blooming, it was still a really soothing place to visit. The heart of the garden is a lake which Buddhists believe is essential to happiness. This is fed by water from the "mountain" or "Tsukiyama", which balances the Yin and the Tang, the lake and the mountain. Here we saw plenty of turtles and coy carp in the water, not to mention the odd mallard duck and thirsty magpie.

And past the raked gravel area you'll find a Tea House or "Chashitu" which immitates the Sea of Sand (Kare-senzui)...the vastness of the sea filled with its islands and continents.

A truly great place to spend some time with yourself and nature. Go there :)

We happened to be in Adelaide for the Fringe Festival. There are all kinds of shows during the festival, including music, magic, food etc. The city was so lively as a result (and busy as it was also Arts Festival and Writers Week) when we were there. We went to 3 events - a magic show (soso), an outdoor exhibit, Natural Wonders (very cool) and a Kaleidoscope, a maze (gave me a headache with the gonging music). Many of the available shows were quirky (but I thought this was interesting).
