Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked a cruise with Whitsunday ferry to Hamilton Island.
The terminal is amazing and our checkin girl was lovely. So friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I forgot her name.
The ferry itself needs a renovation. Its a bit rundown. Even the Radoms which protect the radar from the elements was broken in 2 pieces.
Staff didnt explain very well where the swimvest were stored. Everything was over the microphone and very hard to understand.
There is selfserve for tea and coffee on board.
We took the ferry via Daydream island.
The trip itself was great, lovely scenery with blue water. Picture perfect. We would do the trip anytime again if we are back in the area. If you signed up with Turtle Club you get a discounted rate on the fare.

We have just had an AMAZING 2 days on the pontoon and cannot recommend it highly enough, it was worth every cent. Staying overnight on deck in spacious swags meant it was very relaxing. We were able to snorkel at leisure (with equipment and stinger suits or wet suits provided free), ride in the semi-submersible to see the reef, spend time in the underwater observatory watching the fish or simply sit around chatting whilst soaking up the atmosphere. We decided not to pay extra for a helicopter ride or guided snorkeling. Hosts Alison and Grace were bright, happy and most attentive while Chef Shaun provided unbelievable 5 star meals, snacks, morning and afternoon teas. What a team they make!

Great day on the water with Chris and Katie. They were very knowledgeable and friendly - having personal guides and a private charter was so worthwhile. Boat was great also, handled some heavy seas very comfortably. Perfect way to see the Whitsundays!

We took a group of clients out on the cruise. It was a great afternoon, seeing the sights watching the sunset and whales breaching nearby. A fabulous boat and terrific crew. Our clients just loved the experience. Well worth doing.

What an amazing experience! Every second of being on this pontoon boat and their attentive staff was pretty awesome. The boat ride out to the stationary pontoon was tough. It was 2 hours from Hamilton Island and 3 from Arlie Beach, I believe. I was so glad we changed out depart and return location. I’m not sure I could have handled the extra hour. The staff on board seemed to have posts whereby they watched for sea sick riders and handed out and collected barf bags. The girl beside me was a bit green but held her bag and held her lunch. Once onboard the pontoon it was all superb! They escorted us to our suite. I immediately didn’t want to leave. But there was so much to do on deck and those activities wouldn’t be running in the evening. So we snorkeled out to the reef. We went on the glass sub. The underwater viewing room. We missed the helicopter ride. Those fill up quick so you must sign up on the boat ride out. The lunch for the masses on the boat was good. But after the crowd left and the reef suites and those sleeping in the tents on deck were treated like royalty. What an amazing experience! I slept maybe an hour total. The view out our window and glass floor were just stunning all night. The reef suite room was unbelievably well appointed and beautiful. We absolutely loved it! Worth every penny! We had AC and were dry. Those up on deck went through periods of rain and then being too hot. But they said they enjoyed it as well. Great experience!

If you're in the area, this is an amazing experience to be part of. Justin is a great guy, as is his Wife too. The tour really does showcase the best aerial views and was without doubt worth every penny. We were collected and returned to our Hotel in a timely manner. The aerial picture post card views are simply stunning and not to be missed. The ride was very smooth too, with only a minor bump here and there, but nothing to put anyone off. The Helicopter appears modern and clean and we were fully briefed prior to take off. Again...just try this trip out even if you have to make a few beer and wine sacrifices!!! 😃😂

We enjoyed a week long cruise with 2 other couples to celebrate a birthday. Everything was sensational. John Boyce is a skipper with 30 years experience sailing the reef and it showed. His knowledge of the best places to go, according to conditions and his handling of the boat were masterful. His partner Lynne is a Master Reef Guide and the only guide licensed to conduct reef walks at low tide. Her knowldge of the reef; the animals, the shells and the best places to snorkel was second to none. She accompanied us on all our snorkelling expeditions and we saw and learnt so much. Our walk on the reef was a real highlight. To top all this off Lynne is also a gourmet chef and every meal was an epicurian delight! Go for it, you won't regret it. A truly wonderful experience!

We took a private charted from Long Island to Hamilton Island by Lou. Lou was on time, friendly, and got us to Hamilton Island in 25 min. The boat ride was great. Once we arrived. there was a small issue with getting to the accommodation. We were meant to be picked up by a private bus which wasn't there. I rang Reef View Hotel who advised that the boat hand was supposed to advise them when we were leaving the island so that they could pick us up on time. We waited roughly 30 min. Regardless it was only a minor issue. Highly recommend Mars/Boundless Marine

I could not recommend the Freedom chart more. We were a family with 10 people and it was so worth it to have a boat all to ourselves and enjoy the beautiful activities planned by the team.
Alex and Zoe were absolutely fantastic, they made the day really great!

We spent a week with Lynne and John on Sydney Sundancer in August 2019, my wife and I and our two boys, 11 and 8. Communication with Lynne via email beforehand was excellent and told us all we needed to know to prepare for the trip. A ferry from Airlie Beach got us dockside in Hamilton Island Marina to meet John and Lynne.
We spent 6 nights on Sydney Sundancer: a beautiful boat, comfortable and more spacious than we had imagined. The itinerary included visits to popular and secluded spots; snorkelling off beaches and in bays and a trip to the outer part of the Great Barrier Reef to see some fantastic displays of coral and wildlife. We snorkelled with all sorts of sea life including turtles and an incredible selection of fish of all sizes. The kids were thrilled to spot a Dugong – only the second one John and Lynne had seen in 30+ years; we swam through a ‘bait ball’; swam with a massive Maori Wrasse and saw humpback whales breaching. We used the two kayaks on board and John dropped us off from the tender on several beaches, including Whitehaven, to explore. One of the highlights was a 3-hour reef walk with Lynne on Langford Reef. That is a truly memorable experience which is only possible with a handful of guides. Lynne is so knowledgeable about shells – a huge plus for our boys who learnt loads, were totally engaged with all she had to teach them and loved the opportunity to see such a variety of shells on the reef.
John and Lynne are lovely company and go the extra mile to make the trip special. The itinerary was well thought through: varied, packed but not over-busy. We still had time to enjoy being on board, the scenery, sundowners in a quiet bay. John and Lynne kept a constant eye on the weather and shifted the itinerary accordingly – our journey to the outer reef was timed to be in a favourable weather window meaning we had a lovely trip there and some fantastic snorkelling on the best reefs we saw all trip.
We loved the food on board. Lynne does an amazing job preparing lovely meals. Both lunch and dinner would be impressive if served in a restaurant, let alone a yacht. The one learning we had was that it is hard to persuade our somewhat-fussy 8-year-old to try delicious food even in the Whitsundays and he occasionally needed something a bit simpler!
All in all, it was the trip of a lifetime. If you are looking for a truly unique way to experience the Whitsundays which allows you to see all they have to offer, you would be hard pushed to do better.
