Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- denisebrooks44Twin Waters, Australia60 contributionsA beautiful, clear, and clean lake. It was so inviting to take a swim. The waters are shallow for a good way in and suitable for children to take a splash and play. I love this place. Swimming and playing in the lake and on the sand for hours is just too easy. So if you are visiting Lake McKenzie on a warm day allow plenty of time to frolic around and enjoy a quality and memorable experience. Its an exciting 4wdrive to Lake McKenzie too.Written 10 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ronal26 contributionsTake your inflatable rings, be prepared for the cold water, and float down the natural "lazy river" that is Eli Creek!
You could easily spend an entire day here, floating down the creek and then walking back up via the convenient boardwalk!
If you have kids, they will absolutely LOVE it. Please accompany them though as the water can get deep in places.Written 14 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The walk down to the pools is fairly lengthy along a timber boardwalk, and there are a fair few stairs down, so just bear that in mind. However for majority of people it is not a strenuous walk.Written 14 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chloé H53 contributionsIf you want to ever experience driving in the sand, this beach and its vehicle highway is the place to do it - just watch out for those waves coming in with the tide!Written 27 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christine CBrisbane, Australia159 contributionsNice place to visit and get a feel of how things were years ago. What really made my day was the unbelievable size of the stag horns and ferns that grow in this part of the rainforest because all throughout Fraser Island the plant life differs immensely but blows you away.Written 24 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stefanmoser20186 contributionsSpotting dolphins from the ferry, nice stay at Kingfisher Ressort, beautiful sunsets at the sunset bar, fantastic beauty spots tour, scenic flight for 15‘ is a must, 2 nights just perfect!Written 11 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - P C3 contributionsEasy to miss the sign as driving inland. Drive in to road that says Lake Wabby lookout. Small car park. We got there 11:30am and got one of the last parking spots. Short walk to amazing lookout of enormous sand dune and a bit of the lake. Was overcast so didn’t have problems with hot sand that others mentioned. Challenging, steep walk at times - (30-40 min one way) for those that are not fit or able to do.
Bring lots of water, hats, umbrellas as no shade… Not allowed to bring food-to discourage dingoes. Great swimming in emerald green waters, it gets deep, quickly though- Bring blow up donuts. Or boogie boards if u want to slide down steep dune into lake. We had fun with the big catfish and lots of small fish that nibbled on our legs/feet. Saw a turtle pop its head up. There were a few groups of people around.Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It would have been a sight to behold back in the day. Not much left of it now, but great photos of the waves surging through the wreck. Well worth the stop.Written 17 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- P C3 contributionsAmazing lake. Small carpark for about a dozen cars. Clean waters, saw a couple of turtles. Great if you want a quieter lake - with much less people than Lake Mackenzie. Can get very deep so bring blow up floaties or donuts.Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bladdamastaManly, Australia1,041 contributionsHad a glorious swim on the north side of Indian Head. Crystal clear water and perfect temperature. Reckon in the right swell, it would be excellent for body surfing. Love the protection that the headland gives.

- Michael-4551Caloundra, Australia5,517 contributionsVisited on Friday 24th February. Another not to be missed place to visit on Fraser Island, it was amazing walking along the creek on the board walk and seeing the water so clear and the white sand below.Written 6 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
