Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Helen KSouth West Rocks, Australia23 contributionsGreat day out for young kids. Lots of hands on experiences and many don’t cost. Enjoyed feeding the crocs! Kids loved the koalas, crocs and dingo. Thanks for a great day out!Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AndyJohn74Sydney, Australia5,208 contributionsThis is probably the best attraction in Townsville. An entire beach front of wide paths, beaches, landscaped gardens and parks and places to stop along the way. There are exercise areas, cafes, seating and sculptures dotted the entire length as well. A really lovely place for a stroll on a sunny day.Written 18 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lorraine LTarwin Lower, Australia3,581 contributionsLuckily we had visited here previously because today was not the best day for our visit. Driving up higher it felt like we were driving into a cloud. Normally you can see over to Magnetic Island but today we couldn't see two feet in front of us. Castle Hill is a giant pink monolith which you can see from most places in Townsville. Even though we didn't see much today don't let that put you off.Written 26 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MerryBransonMurrumbateman, Australia7 contributionsThis is a brilliant facility and all free. There is a great boardwalk along the river too. We had a dog with us and she loved it too.Written 15 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Erica Siepker12 contributionsSuper convenient and a discount for booking online! Ferries leave frequently and you don’t need to book a specific time. - MeanderinMarvinMelbourne, Australia35 contributionsDue to COVID patron numbers were capped so when we were there, there were 6 of us wandering around. This meant we had space and time to actually enjoy the place. We read everything and we talked to the staff who were very educational to talk to. We spent hours looking through the tanks and we went up onto Level 2 so we could look down into the tanks. Very cool! Its a small aquarium so don’t expect Melbourne/Sydney but we still enjoyed it!Written 20 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AndyJohn74Sydney, Australia5,208 contributionsHad brunch at the cafe and then went for a wander through the Palmetum. There are lots of open spaces, with plenty of shade, but also plenty was walking paths through the rain forest section. The Townsville Palmetum is also home to the Black Hawk Memorial, a poignant tribute to a tragic event.Written 9 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lorraine LTarwin Lower, Australia3,581 contributionsI had originally thought this was a working barracks so I was very keen to visit when I found out it was a tourist attraction and a local popular spot. I didn't realise Townsville had the was history that it has and I found this most interesting. The area has been kept in public hands and the development of this park is a combined initiative of Townsville City Council, Queensland Government and the Federal Government.Written 26 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Oscar SmithNewcastle, Australia2,369 contributionsAwesome place. The locals sometimes think it is a bit cold in the water, but I reckon it is not cold at all. - Maria TAlbion Park, Australia28 contributionsThe views were spectacular. Only one section is suitable for disabled people, the rest of the walk is very rugged. Worth seeing.Written 4 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RebeccaAdelaide, Australia2,215 contributionsI was greeted at the entrance by a very friendly gentleman volunteer who gave me a bit of info and context for the museum. It’s actually only for north QLD war efforts but includes all wars they were involved in- so it’s very broad. It’s well organized into sections. So much written info as well for the history buffs.
They have a very impressive collection of weapons and ammunition, vehicles and other equipment including those seized from the countries they fought in.
There was no pressure at all to donate but it was hard not to after all that for free. Highly recommendWritten 14 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
