Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Steve-SMelbourne, Australia214 contributionsA fun week house sitting on the outskirts of Rockhampton. Plenty of things to do including some great pub meals and music in old world hotels, the Capricorn caves, walks along the Fitzroy River, Sunset views across Rockhampton from Mt Archer, vthe botanical Gardens complete with a free zoo, and Yeppoon and great Keppel Island a 1/2 drive away.Written 2 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CarloHelmondHelmond, The Netherlands725 contributionsWe arrived at Rockhampton at the end of the afternoon. Before going to the campground we visited the botanical gardens. Unfortunately the zoo was already closed, so we were limited to walk around the gardens. It is a pretty big place, so there is plenty to see. When you get there about an hour before sunset, you have some great views over the lake and the setting sun. There is place for kids to play too. There is a small shop that sells drinks, but that was also closed when we got there. Anyway you can have a wonderful walk around the gardens.Written 20 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Inspire503854002181 contributionWe were told about the Zoo from a local person while camping near Keppel Sands - and it was free.
We had a delightful, pleasant & interesting time & discovered after talking to the chimpanzee handlers that they are the only ones we would see in Qld. Thank you for taking the time to tell us more about them & answer our questions. Well worth going there!! 🥰Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The waterfall was pretty and there were a lot of nice trees and places for you to eat a picnic if you wanted to.Written 29 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sheila S4 contributionsThe walk itself is quite short, but it is well worth the drive to get up here. We enjoyed the walk and the awesome sunset.
Beware of Google Map directions!!! We entered Mount Archer National Park, and were headed off on the road to Emu Park. When we ended up on smaller and smaller dirt roads we turned back, knowing that it shouldn't have taken us so long!
Closer to Rockhampton, we re-routed ourselves to Mount Archer, and of course got there easily.Written 24 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The displays were both informative and interesting. It’s is for both railway enthusiasts and those who enjoy getting to know the area that you are visiting.Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MikBontheCoastSunshine Coast, Australia7 contributionsStopped by for lunch with a group of friends and we all left impressed with the food and friendly service. The newly-added beer garden is excellent, and great for bigger groups. I had the chicken fried steak with a side of potato bake and it was fantastic!Written 5 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Olivia M27 contributionsThis was a great educational experience and the tour was very interesting. The gentleman that guided the tour seemed down to earth and friendly. He took us through some local Aboriginal history and landmarks, played the didgeridoo for us, explaining how it was made and how to play it) and we all had a turn at throwing a boomerang (his even went full circle and came back to him and he caught it)! There was a village we didn’t get to explore as our 2 year old son was tired by the end of it and it was quite hot the day we went. Some great souvenirs in the shop too. Started and finished right on time. Just a note for anyone as it is not their fault: take ur aero guard! There are a lot of midges in the area! We were very itchy by the end of it. Overall a great experience for all ages! Also, we are a family of 5.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RalphBNEBrisbane, Australia28 contributionsAs part of its group tour of Central Qld, RGSQ visited the Flow Centre to get an overview of the Fitzroy Basin. We were not disappointed. The Centre is well-equipped with maps and images. The presentation used an electronic map system allowing the presenter to zoom in and out as he spoke. Very impressive.Written 14 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steph_FR-BESchaerbeek, Belgium2,422 contributionsI have been travelling and swimming for 40+ years and never experienced such complex. You have it all, covered pool for kids, outside pool for kids (closed at the time), diving pool (2 diving levels), 25m pool, 50m pool. On a Friday evening, around 4 pm to 6 pm, I was alone in my lane.
We would be 15 to 20 per lane in Paris and 3 to 10 per lane in Brussels to give some comparisons.Written 3 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This place is par for the course and I'm sure basically every school in the area brings its students here to be dragged around the exhibits.
The place has a several rooms that are laid out quite well and there are all the usual paraphernalia - old photos, models and displays of war material. There are of course displays showing local connections to the various conflicts.
The staff - who I take it are all volunteers - are of course very friendly and helpful. Seeing this place along with the Railway Museum would be a smart move.Written 28 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
