Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Alice FMelbourne, Australia104 contributionsNice wide beach with clean fine sand. Very nice to walk on. Lots of coconut trees on the edge so please be mindful of falling coconuts (never seen any fall in my many visits). Very well patrolled in central Port Douglas just up from Macrossan st. Can hire beach umbrellas/lounges/ tubes/ towels for the day at a reasonable cost. Be mindful of seasonal jellyfish, travelling crocodiles and the occasional sea snake but that goes with the location and is nothing to worry about and you will be informed if any of those things appear. One of the best mainland beaches in Australia.Written 3 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Curious486584137862 contributions'Breakfast with the Birds' was a nice brekkie & the bird presentations REALLY good, BUT not as OUTSTANDING as our Private Tour with your "Becca" - she was knowledgeable, had a sense of humour & a lovely enthusiasm & fondness for both the animals & also her role - my 10-year-old Grandson hung on every word PLUS asked lots of questions - a credit to how she made our Grandson feel at ease & eager to learn more. A HUGE but wonderful day - thnx Habitat Team!Written 2 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- LovistaMollymook, Australia217 contributionsThis snorkeling day out was simply the best. The clarity of the water and marine life, friendliness and knowledge of the staff, 3 snorkel sites all unique. Best marine photos ever! - BrookeWarners Bay, Australia801 contributionsWe wanted to celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary differently this year so when i came across Flames in the Forest at Port Douglas was on our actual anniversary i knew we had to book it. So so so glad we did. We were picked up promptly from our accommodation and driven to site. What a magical, mystical place they have created. From the time you step off the mini bus you are transported to a lit up oasis. Torch flames, fairy lights and candles light up the rainforest. We were immediately served sparkling wine, and a beer on arrival and tasty canapes of battered prawns, duck spring rolls and satay chicken skewers. All were excellent. Then we walked to our tables in another area under a black marquee. Fairy light balls and torch flames and fire pits awaited us. The food was 5 star. So much food none of us could eat it all. You will mot starve that is for sure. So much food on every table went back because there was ample. Noodle salad, Caesar salad kangaroo, wagyu beef, fish, chicken, plus pavlova were served. Staff were excellent. Always ensuring we had a drink in hand. The cultural show was excellent also, learning the process of playing the didgeridoo. The story telling, learning about indigenous culture and their way of living on the same land we were sitting on. The night was way above what we expected and all the reviews are spot on. This tour was so well worth the money and our anniversary night was perfect. Thank you to the staff and Gary and his brother for the most perfect night.Written 3 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alan W1 contributionOur driver was named Brian and on both occasions he was polite, friendly & courteous. Most importantly the team are responsive, on time and above all professional. - Christine B1 contributionWe were met as our flight landed at Cairns airport, friendly and efficient service, and we enjoyed an informative drive from Cairns to Port Douglas. Excellent driving, an hour on winding roads, and were dropped at our the door of our accommodation, and we are now looking forward to enjoying Port Douglas.Written 20 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marion T1 contribution2 self-guided tours over 2 days. So much fun. Great bikes - pedal power mountain bikes one day and e-mountain bikes the next. Digital map and plb included. Really helpful staff. Fabulous scenery, river crossings. Even the rain on the second day added to the fun with a lot of mud. I’d recommend having some mountain biking experience.Written 2 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marie C4 contributionsI love this place, has to be the most sophisticated place in town.
Love the vibe & the music, could spend hours looking at the posters on the wall.
Ordered a negroni, more than happy!
Went back later for a nightcap.
The actual bar itself looks like it has escaped from some very exclusive old club in Sydney.
Love to know it’s history & how it got there.
I should mention that we are both in our seventies & hardly described as cool but we both loved it!Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had a private shuttle for 4 and it was economical, and very flexible when our plane arrived early. We used their normal shuttle on the way back to Cairns, and again it was great service, and on time.
Can recommend their cafe ZanDer in PD as well. Lovely spot and great food.Written 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dreamer111022038901 contributionI LOVE this shop! There’s always so many unique, creative, beautiful, hilarious things to look at. It really is FUN stuff! The staff are always keen for good banter and helpful tips when you’re looking for just the right thing; whether it’s for you, for your home, or for a gift. It’s my go to spot for all things that commemorate Port Douglas, especially with the option to have mugs, glasses, magnets, photo frames, and more totally personalized! We’ve purchased many things over the years due to that extra special touch. They’re quick to help, when possible, if your in a gift giving bind as well 😁

I was a first time snorkeler and not a strong swimmer, but the crew were great and it was easy to pick up! It was a little choppy on the day and so a couple of us did get sea sick, but they were well prepared to help. Would definitely recommend!Written 8 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
