Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Georgia RoseCanterbury Region, New Zealand30 contributionsTook my teen snorkeling for the first time. There is a pontoon she could follow a rope along to see fish. Very friendly for beginners. Lycra was handed out but sizes were too small and we wasted some time changing to larger sizes so be aware the guy underestimates your size! All our lives had holes and I got one jelly fish sting which got infected but was helped at the hotel with it. The activities themselves are well organised, super safe and monitored. The sub was great and we saw a turtle. The food was wonderful and tea and coffee was nice. The cruise was calm but the seating was very squishy and filled up quickly. We couldn't sit together on the way out and packed up early so we could get a table together in the way back. Crew were friendly and very professional. The catamaran was super clean and well organised. All in all it is value for money, safety was not a concern and staff were amazing. Snorkeling was good albeit crowded but nice knowing my teen was being watched and was safe. For a first snorkel this is a perfect experience and introduction.Written 21 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DukeNateJacksonville, FL7 contributionsSuch an amazing experience. Great staff. Kind and knowledgeable. They are run by marine biologists and care about investing back in reef. Was the highlight of our family trip to Australia.Written 9 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ellen L1 contributionThe tour was amazing! Mattew was our tour guide and he was so funny and knowledgeable and thaught us so much! The best thing about the trip was the dip in the lagoons in the rainforest.Written 8 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stacey S2 contributionsHonestly the best experience we have ever had. From the start where we stuffed up our ticket dates, they just made it work as in there words "We don't want to put you out at all, the kids look excited" even though it was our fault.
Each and ever crew member was chatty, informative and interactive with everyone on board. No question seemed to be an inconvenience for them. Our kids range from 7 - 18 and all of them loved it as a first time experience.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I very fortunately reached out to Tony's Tropical Tours and couldn't believe my luck when Kirsty quickly arranged a private day of touring for our group of 4. She went far above and beyond to organize a fantastic experience with our amazing driver/guide, Gary. We went on a lovely, peaceful hike, rode on a crocodile boat tour and saw 4 crocs, swam in a crystal clear creek, and more. Gary is so knowledgeable about all life in the rain forest, and as a bonus we even saw a cassowary, a family of pigs, and multiple lizards. I can't recommend Tony's and especially Kirsty and Gary enough! Kirsty saved us from what would have been an extremely disappointing day!Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dave W3 contributionsAs a solo traveler I will agree with Ange about the beauty and mystifying Great Barrier Reef. If you are planning to visit the Great Barrier Reef sail away is the way to go with the kind experienced crew to give you the safest and most fun snorkel of your life.Written 14 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah BSheringham, UK9 contributionsAbsolutely brilliant day! Plenty of space on the boat and pontoon. Quite choppy conditions and the crew could not have been nicer or more helpful.
Snorkelling was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed the semi-submersible boat. The talk by the marine biologist on the way out was fantastic.
Our son is Type 1 diabetic and we coukd not have felt more looked after and safe by every crew member we spoke to. Lifeguards were amazing, crew members put food aside for him to have when it was convenient around exercise and levels rather than a timed slot to eat and care given to him when ge wasn't feeling well.
This is the third reef trip I have been on but the first time I have been with Quicksilver and if I ever have a fourth trip it will be with them - no hesitation. This crew go the extra mile- they even rescued my husbands hat when it blew off (even though he had been warned to hold onto it!) as it was a very sentimental one! Can't thank them enough.Written 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our brilliant and friendly guides, Josephine and Sammi, made this such an enjoyable experience - loved by our whole group - 2 adults and 2 kids (9 and 11). We were also lucky with amazing weather and a small group of 5 for our trip. Would absolutely recommend this trip. Such a unique experience and a thoroughly fabulous way to experience the rainforest and the river!Written 13 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gloria L1 contributionHighly recommended experience of the Great Barrier Reef! My partner and I opted for 2x Introductory Dives and a snorkel. All three excursions were professionally run and the staff were very accommodating of all skill levels. Loved the energy of the crew and special shoutout to our host Faye!Written 9 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stavriana a4 contributionsStop searching! Martin and Squba IQ are the best option for an amazing scuba diving trip at the GBR!
Communication was great even before the trip and Martin explained everything that needed to be done when it was needed to be done so that all forms were filled and submitted correctly on time.
Martin has a wonderful way to make a diver feel at ease during the dives, carefully explaining the route. He is very knowledgeable of the reef and keeps all the safety requirements. During the dive he constantly pointed out points of interest and explained what everything was on his writing board.
I had so much fun diving with Martin at the GBR and I highly recommend him and his center!Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were kept informed of activities on the day with clear extensive instructions. Lunch was wonderful. Although water activities were not for me I appreciated the support of my elderly partner who enjoyed snorkeling. A glass of wine and music along with singing on the return trip was a nice bonus. While all staff were polite and helpful Hayley’s passion for her chosen career was remarkable and Simons personality perfect for the job.Written 14 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew W1 contributionWhat a fantastic day out on Odin with Captain Chris on a private charter. If you can I would highly recommend the private charter. Within 10 minutes of the anchor hitting the bottom we were onto large Nannygai with 4 in the boat within 40 mins. These ranged from 700mm to a little over 900mm. There was 5 of us fishing on the boat with ample room and the twin 150hp motors had us at our fishing location in no time. We will certainly be fishing out on Odin again we we are next in Port Douglas.Written 10 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
