The day we took the tour there was 12 people in the group. This allowed getting to know fellow travelers easier. Don, our driver and guide for the day, was well organized, knowledgeable and friendly. He had many stories to share. The first stop of the day was the wildlife habitat. While we got around most of the exhibits, it would have been nice to have had an additional 45 minutes (or maybe we should have spent less time with the koalas and kangaroos!). Next was the Mossman Gorge. The welcome to country by Uncle Tom was interesting and informative. After a walk in the rainforest (and opportunity to paddle in the river) there was a delicious wrap sandwich served (was a choice of filling).
After lunch we went in search for salty crocs from a boat cruise on the Daintree. We saw a juvenile and mother “Bruce” guarding her nest.
There were ample toilet breaks throughout the day and the coach was modern, comfortable and air conditioned.
