Did this trip today. Emma our guide was very knowledgeable & shared lots with us about the rainforest.

Sadly as a result of the cyclone damage we couldn’t visit Cape Tribulation so our itinerary had to be jigged around which was disappointing but obviously not something that Emma or the company could control.

Trip on Daintree river pleasant, although all the crocodiles seemed to be hiding.
Mossman Gorge nice & the opportunity for a paddle/dip was welcomed.

Lunch stop - a hot meal provided & the Barramundi was very good

The water is cold this time of the year but a nice place to just chill out by and relax.
Refreshing water, a kiosk there, shade and greens area to lazy around on. Maybe a few more benches would be good.

Totally enjoyed this place. The BEST Aquarium I have ever been too! SO many fish etc to see. Highly Recommend. Very informative. You actually see more than you do on a boat reef tour. All the sea creatures look happy and well. Go enjoy a great day out as you won't be disappointed. Stay as long as you like.

We could have spent more time there, but access was easy from the street and the walking tracks were well marked. There was some wonderful flora there with many interesting tropical trees and plants. The low-lying areas off of the wooden walking track across the street from the main entrance were full of water. Next time we will explore some more areas that we did not get to this time.

What a place. Had a tour with Paul for two hours. Fantastic experience. With his knowledge he put everything in perspective to what was happening in the War eras and the impact that Tanks and Mobile Artillery had in the theatre of warfare. Will be back to absorb some more.

An absolute highlight of one of our days chasing waterfalls. Josephine Falls is crystal clear, so unbelievably clean and has a safe and bigger swimming spot at the bottom. Set yourself up on the rocks and you can stay for hours in the shade. There is a fun natural rock slide into the pool as well as a rope swing.

10/10 place for kids! Bring bathers and change of clothes kids loved it. Water was cold but on a sunny day that wouldn’t be a problem and it didn’t stop our kids from getting wet anyway.

Seastar dropped us off before the island we swam in. Enjoyed watching the hundreds of birds making their nest on this slender piece of land. One of my highlights.

The Cairns Museum was great –one of these small local museums that do a very good job at telling their unique story. The top floor was all about the people who have settled and lived in Cairns from 1907 through now, and they told the stories via photos of a person and a vignette about what they did. Good blend of male/female, whites, aboriginal, Europeans and I thought it gave a good flavor of the town. The next floor was displays around themes like dressing, cooking, safety, home life, work, etc.. more photos and the tools that people used with explanations; the home life part was very interesting to see the rather primitive washing machines from the 1950s, the wooden screened cabinets with the four legs set into metal rings, filled with kerosene to keep the ants out. Very evocative section. The docent in the room was very informative and pleasant.

They have a veranda on the second floor as part of the museum and originally when they told me oh, don’t miss the veranda, I thought “yeah, right – it’s a trillion degrees and you want me to sit outside” but when I saw the door I went outside. Well, I was 100% wrong.! There was a pleasant breeze, ceiling fans, white wicker furniture, and a very nice view over Main Street and the trees. I talked to the same docent later on and she explained that the key in Cairns is to get up high so that you get a breeze; and that’s why a lot of the houses (Queenslanders) are raised and have lots of windows to let the breezes come through. Okay, I was convinced. I would definitely recommend this museum if you want to learn about the history of the town.

it is a very small island you can easily walk around in an hour. There are beautiful paths with lots of trees to keep you shaded. Do bring bug spray as I was eaten alive by mosquitos and ended up with big welts (even through t-shirts). They have a dive shop - I just got basic snorkeling equipment for AUD26 - the stinger suit is extra but there were no jelly fish I ran into. The beach area has so-so snorkeling - some fish and not much coral - you need to get the tour out to the reef. The swimming pool on the island was a bit lame, and the food was about $8 for a pre-packaged sandwich. There were tons of these little brown birds that begged for handouts - they were almost tame and rather amusing. On the island is a Marineland with a croc show that was a lot of fun.

Nice swimming spots, and the waterfall is pretty. However, it's a long uphill walk with few views, and there are loads of big black biting flies. Also saw snakes crossing the path, so it's probably good to be noisy

The station for the Kurunda railway is the usual starting point. It is old, charming, some limited catering and a souvenir shop. Probably not a place you'd go to unless you are taking the railway.
