Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Kate BemroseCairns, Australia11 contributionsGreat shopping centre. I like visiting Big W and the fact that it has both Woolworths and Coles is a winner for me. The only down side is the crime. I've been robbed twice while visiting. A young boy ripped my handbag off my shoulders just the other day, and my car's been vandalised tool. I suppose this isn't the shopping centres fault.. But just a warning to anyone planning on visiting.Written 30 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Simon BCity of Greater Geelong, Australia4,142 contributionsOnly stumbled into Oceana as appeared a cool and shaded short cut toward Rusty’s market.
Mixed and interesting collection of shops fascinated and slowed our journey.
Hobbies, interests, music, fashions & eating options across a wide taste spectrum.
Lo and behold, suddenly we’ve bought a dress and headed on.Written 10 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Prices are relatively reasonable and quality seems to be better than the night market fare. There were some empty shops that I didn't see open for business. Apart from restaurants, a food court on level 2, a shoe shop in level 1, it's sort of empty. Toilets on 2nd floor has graffiti which adds a pathetic, neglected vibe.Written 14 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Simon BCity of Greater Geelong, Australia4,142 contributionsStayed a week for winter holiday in Shangri-la Hotel, within complex.
Walked through and around Pier shopping complex many times.
Dined at handful of restaurants and enjoyed the scenic sea outlook.
Internally showed the sad tourist drought with many stores empty.
Better times ahead should find vendors because of terrific location.Written 7 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
