- Ciara4 contributionsWe originally had the 4pm ferry booked but for an extra $20 each, we were able to book onto the 7pm ferry which gave us extra time. We were able to do the ATV Quad tour then.
The Desert Safari is expensive but great fun! Sliding down a 70m (8 storey) dune gives you such an adrenaline rush. Plus it's a great workout walking back up. Prepare for sand going everywhere (I really mean everywhere), getting sand burn and wear sunglasses to prevent sand in the eyes.
The ATV Quad tour is more value for money. Ride around either solo or tandem on a sand adventure park.
The only struggle of the day was finding the tour desk to check into our Desert Safari. The whole island is absolutely beautiful and packed with wildlife, a specific highlight being Waddy Point where we sighted whales, sharks, stingrays and turtles from the cliffs. The itinerary was perfect giving you plenty of time to visit each spot properly, and enough time in the evening for a beach walk to see some amazing stars. We couldn’t of asked for a better tour guide (Jim) who was unbelievably knowledgeable about the whole island and so much fun, and put in so much effort to make sure everyone was okay and having a good time. - Sean M1 contributionGreat day out on Moreton Island.. hired a 4WD to see the north of the Island(quite expensive for 2 people, but can fit up to 6 people I believe), snorkelled the wrecks(great snorkelling, both at high tide and low tide.. low tide being easier to access and advisable for the less experienced snorkeller.. also, water shoes advised but not essential). Relaxed at the pool before feeding dolphins.. great to be able to see and feed these wild animals up close. Saw a wobbygong and young manta ray at the feeding too. - Majella1 contributionHad an incredible time on the 4WD tour on Stradbroke island. Dave took us to all the great sites and offered lots of informative and fun facts alone the way. He was able to answer all our questions regarding the island and it’s history. We had delicious morning tea and lunch all prepared by Dave while we got to go for a swim and explore the beaches and lakes. Would 100% recommend to anyone considering doing a tour as driving along the beach and the local knowledge was amazing. Definitely would not have found them if we didn’t do this tour. Jamie-Lee has exceptional knowledge of food & wine & she is a wonderful host. - chunkymonkey6702West Sussex, UK4 contributionsI would highly recommend this tour. Our guide Wade was lovely, he obviously knew the area well and was extremely helpful. The stops on our tour were exquisite the food was excellent at every stop and were not obvious places to go for out of towners.
My only complaint was that although it was mentioned that nuts should be excluded from the food options they featured fairly heavily in the tasting platter at our first stop. However the other options available were delicious and we were able to choose our own little box of chocolates to take away for each of us, which I absolutely loved!!!
