Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Sarah CAshtead, UK1,323 contributionsA lovely museum, which we hadn't realised was tucked into the Town Hall. Fascinating history and some quirky exhibits too. - aktravlrWashington DC, DC4 contributionsCruise ship fans, or present/ex Navy sailors...this is YOUR place to enjoy. Scale models of vessels , ranging from 21st to 18th c (USS Constellation). Walk thru original Qld governmental yacht reception room, or an entire WW2 Aussie corvette. All, with knowledgeable volunteers happy to answer all visitor questionsWritten 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cosmopolitan800580United Kingdom179 contributionsSmall museum run by volunteers on 8th floor of an apartment hotel block. The building was MacArthur's HQ during WW2. I hadn't realised he made his 'I will return' speech from Australia after departing the Philippines on the orders of the US President. The museum is a tribute to MacArthur, the US forces and the people of the city of Brisbane and contains some interesting small objects, as well as display panels. The volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable and the recreation of MacArthur's office is great if a little soulless. Some idea of the hustle and bustle of war might have enlivened what seems like a sterile space. If you are interested in WW2 this should be on your itinerary as it is centrally located near Anzac Square. Book in advance and it is not open every day.Written 1 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- djsmuOntario, Canada92 contributionsIt was smoking hot in there. It would’ve been nice to have air-conditioning but it was still nice to go downstairs and see the original structure. Thank you for the tour, cost was $20.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Pete DWestern Australia, Australia185 contributionsThis historic house is a short 30min bus ride from Brisbane CBD and is a great example of a character Queenslander house that has been owned and maintained by a volunteer women’s group for many years. The house and it’s furniture represent a treasure trove of interesting antiques and historic objects. The volunteer staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Expect to spend an hour or so here. Perhaps longer if you partake in the cream teas.Written 5 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - robpolBrisbane, Australia6 contributionsAlthough on a small footprint, in the absence of atriums, gift shops and cafes, every square inch is devoted to the title of the museum. We have been to a number of motor museums and yet we learned fascinating new facts about the history of racing cars and bikes. The volunteers are passionate about the history of the displays and are happy to tell you as much as you'd like to know. My 15 year old son and I both enjoyed our visit. We'll be recommending this museum to our friends.Written 17 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
