Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worth it in so many ways. Covers the whole history of the RFDS and the bombing of Darwin in WWII. Entry fee supports the ongoing Service. There are excellent displays of various kinds and an interesting gift shop. The virtual surround experience is amazing. Additionally the staff are very helpful.

Came here as part of an excursion from our cruise ship. The B-52 is the star of the show and it's enormous. They have a viewing gallery so you can see it from above and you can even see inside the cockpit. There are lots of other aeroplanes to see, as well as the wreck of a Japanese Zero.

This House is a museum and is National Trust classified. It was closed when I went there as not open too many hours.

We visited the Motor Vehicle Enthusiasts Club Inc MVEC - it is the oldest and largest motor enthusiasts club in the Northern Territory with over 400 members most of whom reside in Darwin, Katherine and surrounding areas.

There was a lovely lady and a few gentlemen who are part of the club that volunteer their time to run the place.
They gave us the history of the hanger and how things came into the club’s possession.

You could see how much these items meant to them, and how the museum brought them all together.

This is a non-profit organisation - donations are welcomed for going through the hanger to see it all.

We gave them a $20 donation, as they spent a lot of time in detail telling us everything - they were so shocked and so grateful.
The proceeds they make go to their chosen charity.

I highly recommend checking them out!!

If you do go, PLEASE donate, It doesn’t have to be much, every little bit helps 🙏

The old QANTAS hangar is open for visitors on weekdays 9.30am to 3.30pm and 9am to 2pm Saturdays

The Roadmaster's House is in an out of the way spot on the path from the Esplanade down to the Stokes Hill Wharf. It houses a display of old maps that illustrate the history of European settlement in Darwin from the first explorers through to WWII and the modern age. There is also a little section on geographical curiosities (such as the WA-NT border not being as straight as it looks and how there is no official "Red Centre" of Australia) which is quite interesting. It is a good spot for a look for 30-45mins depending on your interest level. Entry is by donation and there is a booklet on sale for $5 outlining the history of exploration/maps covered in the display. The volunteer on duty when I visited was friendly and helpful even though I was the only visitor.
