Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a free attraction where you can pay a donation. You are greeted and given instructions to download the audio tour which brought the Gaol to life for a visitor. I think we spent about 1 - 1 1/2 hours there in the end listening to the audio tour, history and personal stories. Take your air phones!

Tasteful and beautiful cenotaph in a scenic location. Lovely place to sit and reflect on those who gave their lives for the safety and well-being of others.

The diversity of artwork was fabulous. It was easy to download a map and just wander around the streets. Easy to spend a few hours meandering and finding the works in different places.

Part of the Bicentennial Park. Yes its another war memorial but with a backdrop consisting of an awesome nature park plus the amazing turquoise water behind it, this memorial is in the perfect spot. You will see it if you walk the park.

The old Star Theatre site is now some little boutique shops and cafes. They close early on weekdays. There is a little bit of signage inside about the old theatre that was destroyed in Cyclone Tracy in 1974. It's tucked away in the mall, I had walked past several times before I even noticed it.

A colleague ad I carried out the original fauna surveys of Mantom Dam in the 1980s and we spotted what appeared to be estuarine crocodiles in the pools left after the dam had been drained. However, their presence was not acknowledged for years. I advise against swimming.

We passed this airstrip on the way home to Darwin. I saw the signs as we were driving but was knocked back a little when we saw some ímitation' planes on the runway. It took my mind into the situation Australia was in way back in WWII. There was another airplane strip a bit further north. They both still look like they are suitable for landing.

Our visit to Survivors' Lookout was a great way to read about some of the history of the Darwin Harbour area. The information boards in the area create an interesting time line to follow. It is a pity that the vegetation has been allowed to grow in front of the viewing platform so the view is very patchy. Having said this it should not discourage visitors from going and checking it out.

Nothing really to see (just the remnants of two walls that survived the destruction of Cyclone Tracy in 1974). No need to go out of your way to see, but if in the area, have a quick look. The history of the building is interesing.
