Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- AglassortwoMelbourne, Australia267 contributionsWe took in the free 10.30am guided tour on a Friday. There is also a booklet provided for a self-guided tour at other times. Through security you find yourself in a rather pleasant building that overlooks the bay. Built on the site of the Post Office that was bombed in WW2, there are memorial plaques and a display to acknowledge this part of Darwin's history. Our guide was full of facts and info and explained the features of how the NT parliament operates. The tour went for about an hour, and I could have done with somewhere to sit after about half an hour, so when we got to the chamber of the end, it was a relief to sit in the public gallery. A cafe is within the building if you want something to eat or drink. You can also look in the NT Library with is just off the main hall.Written 23 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FiftyFifty5050Montgomery, UK922 contributionsIt seemed quite a long, hot walk from the Tourist Information Centre to the Cathedral and so the cool concrete interior, with doors flung open at the sides to let in what breeze there was, seemed very welcoming.
A beautiful space, very simple, especially for a Roman Catholic church, with stunning stained glass, high arched ceiling at the front and just a very peaceful, calm ambience.
Well worth the walk.Written 28 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is an old gaol and has lots of interesting information as you walk around - both information boards and audio on a phone with QR code access. The general area is also beautiful with a lagoon nearby to swim in. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.Written 15 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand4,440 contributionsThe Christ Church Cathedral comprises a striking design incorporating remnants of the original church (erected in 1902, but largely destroyed in Cyclone Tracy in 1974) into the architecture of the new church. Overall, it leaves a memorable impression.Written 29 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- K72Melbourne, Australia3,090 contributionsThe old Star Theatre site is now some little boutique shops and cafes. They close early on weekdays. There is a little bit of signage inside about the old theatre that was destroyed in Cyclone Tracy in 1974. It's tucked away in the mall, I had walked past several times before I even noticed it.Written 1 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lorraine LTarwin Lower, Australia3,581 contributionsWe just lucked out with regards to this event, we had no idea it was on and just turned up in Darwin to stay the week and as we booked into our Caravan Park we were told that this exercise was happening at the moment and we would hear the flyovers for most of the day. Rather than being discouraged we were thrilled I had never seen the F18s in action so I thought this was a great opportunity. Our caravan park was right under the flight path so around 8.00am they would commence and we would all step outside out vans and look up to the sky to see these impressive aircraft fly over. They would start coming back from about 4.00pm so we would all watch them come back too. Coming home thy were often in formation and they would break away in pairs to land. I still get goosebumps thinking about it and the noise is amazing. We visited the RAAF open day on our last day in Darwin and we were impressed by the number of aircraft on display the armed personnel were very friendly and helpful and it was well set up. We had a great morning at this event.Written 21 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- polly m4 contributionsIf you're interested in Darwin history, in alternative energy sources or in architecture, this is well worth a visit. It is a national Trust property, so well maintained. I was lucky to meet a guide who explained the history and the principles behind the design. Pity they don't follow those principles today instead of replying on expensive and wasteful air conditioning.Written 13 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DeniseLGoodfellowDarwin River, Australia14 contributionsA colleague ad I carried out the original fauna surveys of Mantom Dam in the 1980s and we spotted what appeared to be estuarine crocodiles in the pools left after the dam had been drained. However, their presence was not acknowledged for years. I advise against swimming.Written 15 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
