Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This park slopes down to the harbour with views across the water to Cockatoo Island. There are plenty of seats, a band rotunda, childrens playground and toilets. Another attraction is the Dawn Frazer Baths. Parking is easy round the park with plenty of unrestricted space.

What a great pool. So many areas to sit and it was great to cool off. Not much parking but we were very lucky as someone was leaving when we arrived. Kids loved jumping of the middle pontoon. Great upgrade of the pool .
Downside was then steps stairs and the kiosk was not great. Wonderful that they accept the fitness passport.

A park for everyone from school students playing games to older people relaxon one of the seats it is a great asset for locals and visitors like me who spent a nice hour with my 12 month old grandson.
Trees with shade, paths on which to push a stroller and beautiful grass make this a great facility.

A great space and good turnover of artists and exhibitions. Good to be able to speak to the makers as they are usually present at the gallery.

Big park on old docklands with lawns, trees, a promenade with fishers, dogs, a wharf, views of the harbour bridge. Beautiful.

This was our second visit since it changed hands and it was so much better. The cocktails were fantastic and the food was great. They have a new menu. Very attentive staff. Will definitely go again soon . Highly recommend!

This place was a pioneer in fancy deli offerings in supermarkets in the '80s so on a revisit, I was surprised how small and basic it is compared to other supermarkets I use. More like a Woolworths Metro - lower prices than a Metro but I'm not convinced they were the same as other full Woolworths. The range was very poor (there were particular produce and toiletries items that they just didn't have) and the fresh produce quality was poor.

This gorgeous venue is under new management and is working well. There are a choice of indoor or outdoor seating with both spots nicely decorated. A friendly greeting set the tone for a lovely lunch experience.
Coffee was the nicest I’d had in a while but was $5.50!
The menu offered a good range of types of dishes with one or two choices in each category across entree and mains, extra vegetarian options too. Ordering was flexible and we chose 3 entrees between the two of us. Service was proactive, nicely paced and unobtrusive. The dishes themselves were well presented, hot, and tastily different.
Would recommend for the occasional step up from your average lunch spot.

Lovely serene establishment with experienced staff.
I went for a Brazilian Sugar Wax which was expertly done.
I have no issue with the staff or the treatment but the cost absolutely floored me - $84.00 for less than a half hour which included a glass of water.
I haven't been there for ages but that increase will prevent me from returning.

Dropped in here to stock up for a picnic. Wow, what a brilliant little store. Well stocked with all kinds of yummy cheese and the wine selection blew my mind. Lot's of interesting labels most of which I have NEVER seen at larger liquor outlets.

Walked out with way more than I planned, loved it all

Pleasant pub dominating this area. The place for all the old people who bought a house nearby in the 80s. Nice spaces, nice staff, good happy hour, expensive but good food. And music.

By far the best fishing charter we have ever been on. Adam and Mick were professional, knowledgeable and extremely entertaining. They start with a safety briefing, they provide continued assistance and instructions while we fished. They shared their extensive knowledge of the types of fish we caught and cleaned and preped our fish to take home.
The boat is beautiful and extremely clean with a flush bathroom on board. Comfortable and has ample seating with spots to fish in the either the sunshine or shade.
It is clear these two have a passion for fishing. We are so happy we had the opportunity to fish with them!

This small bowling club (just one green) is close to the heart of Balmain though many wouldn't know it is there, tucked away as it is in a far corner of Gladstone Park. The club has a good vibe and there is an excellent outdoor area that is suitable for kids. They encourage barefoot bowlers and the beer is well-priced and cold. So, what's not to like? Unfortunately, in our experience anyway, the food doesn't quite measure up. The kitchen is small but there is a huge and varied menu - with lots of club favourites like steaks, fish, chicken schnitzel, bangers & mash, etc etc plus a large number of Thai and Chinese favourites. And it must said prices are extremely reasonable. Our group mainly went for Thai meals and were by and large disappointed. In particular the fish cakes were dry and rubbery and the Thai beef salad was soggy and with none of the subtlety of flavours you expect with Thai food. It was very ordinary. The Thai chicken salad was at least edible, as was the steamed barramundi. It might be time to narrow down the menu and focus on doing one style of cuisine ... and doing it well.

On the Sunday evening we went in early September, it was a live jazz evening. Not bad music but crowded and noisy with a large, civilised boomers crowd. Very difficult to have a conversation in the bar area but mercifully there was a free table in the little outdoor area. Beer and wine all fine if of course at Darling Street Balmain prices.
