Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The outstanding piece in this year’s visit was an installation by Ken Unsworth. The heavy stones are suspended on wires and float a foot above the ground. This exhibit creates a feeling of calm and tranquility.

We didn't plan to visit it, got there by accident, but frankly it was a pleasant experience. It has very rich and diverse content, we specially enjoyed the submarine. :)

This is an absolute hidden gem. The location is very near to the famous Opera House and other Sidney attractions. But honestly, we enjoyed this more than anything. The tour has something for everyone. There is history, anthropology, geology, art and architecture, shipping and sailing lore, gardens with fruit bats, and the wonderful old operational historic telescopes. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and we got to watch them rotate the observatory dome so we could look through the telephone. Do not miss this tour.

This is definitely a must see place so interesting and free.

Your given a headset and the brilliant part about those are you just stand by the exhibit and the story starts, if you happen to move away & go back it picks up from when you moved away NO rewinding etc like in the UK.

The only thing I would say is that the gift shop is a little on the expensive side so sad to say I didn’t purchase anything.

Good way to spend a couple of hours! I only visited the free areas, but those definitely filled my day by themselves! There are free Audio guides available with a phone, which I definitely recommend listening to!

Visited this wonderful museum with my wife. It is based in an old tram shed, which has been tastefully added to with modern glass buildings. An eclectic mix of exhibitions, from fashion to steam machinery, airplanes, steam railway and space exploration. The space station mock up is particularly impressive. A great place to visit.

I will be honest, I was blessed to 'happen upon' The Jewish Museum when I was doing a walk from Circular Quay to Paddington, more than 17 years ago.

Although I wasn't dressed (in my view) to go into a museum, I checked with a lady working there and after her approval I went in. I was so glad I did and I have lost count on the number of times I have been back.

People may think it is only about the war but it isn't. One would be a fool to think that there isn't that in the journey as it was a monumental time in their lives. However, a large part is an informative walk through Judaism, customs, culture, faith, and basic way of life.

Hands down the most informative and well organised storytelling Museum I have gone to. Even though its size would be considered miniature compared to others in Sydney.

I was very blessed on the day I first went the museum wasn't very busy, I managed to corner a curator and just ask the poor young man question after question. I am sure I kept him for near two hours. I haven't seen him since, I hope I didn't traumatised him with my continual questions.🤣

I have selected the date I did because it doesn't allow me to go back and select ALL the months from 17 years ago that I have visited the Museum.

I never went on a Saturday, knowing it would not be open due to it being their Sabbath.

While wondering around The Rocks, the ATTY Gallery drew us in with its incredibly vibrant, playful and exquisite pieces of art. We knew immediately that we were hooked and a piece was going to be adopted into our home. What made the experience even more meaningful was chatting with the very talented and clever artist, Graham. His work is so meticulous yet his art makes you smile just looking at it, drawing you in to the details and looking for the hidden items in each piece.

Whenever we travel, we like to bring a bit of our adventure home with us which is usually a piece from a local artist. This visit ranks as one of the top experiences in all of our travels. Graham was fantastic to work with, telling funny stories and relaying the passion he has in making his art. He made the purchase easy and fun - an experience we will remember fondly!

We’ve happily adopted the Raft Family of Otters and are looking forward to many years of enjoying their company in our home. We highly recommend visiting Graham and his critters while in Sydney!

Although it was a little hot and crowded, the set up of the establishment and the figures themselves are awesome. I particularly loved learning about the history of madame tussaud herself!

We went in this small museum on the way to somewhere else and suddenly 2 hours had gone by and we had not seen everything. So much interesting information, really well curated. Lots of items to look at with great information provided for context. Lots of different types of displays and plenty of interactive content too. There is even a small library with selections for adults and children. I can’t recommend it enough, and its free!

Great selection of contemporary art. Paintings, drawings, sculpture, video art and others. There is a really excellent room with first nation art, the bark paintings were good and there was a really helpful guide who was interesting to talk to. Great shop too.nice outside roof/balcony area with a view of the harbour, except when the huge cruise ships are in dock.

Having lived in Sydney all my life I'm ashamed I've never been inside the Memorial before. I actually visited two days in a row and wonder why I never had before! I was involved in a WW1 remembrance being held there so had to quickly explore the site. The Anzac Memorial is a fabulous 1934 built building in an exquisite art deco style, the architect Charles Bruce Dellit doing the theme justice. The interior is made up of several Halls, of Memory, Silence & Service and each has a particular story to tell. There is the Well of Contemplation with marble balustrades and myriad motifs dedicated to various WW1 battle sites. There are also display areas with RAN and AIF history on show. The sculpture, Sacrifice, by artist George Rayner Hoff, is particularly poignant and dominates the space. The newer addition is the Hall of Service where soil samples from 100 Military sites are presented and 1,701 samples from NSW Cities, Suburbs, Towns & Villages are in surrounding wall sconces. Thoroughly recommended if you are near Hyde Park or have an hour or so to visit. Visit at 11am to experience the Last Post & Ode Service, a true Sydney treasure to enjoy.

A beautifully curated exhibition in a stunning gallery in a cute location. No entry fee! And don’t miss the tour: Harry was amazing! I went with a friend and had lunch afterwards. A great day.

Very interesting, despite half the cottages being under restoration and not open for a visit. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide took us around. You do have to book if you want to be guaranteed a spot on a tour at your preferred time.
