It was a great place to come & explore when wanting to kill some time. - Mairwen1United Kingdom11,690 contributionsPitt St is one of the oldest main roads running through Sydney’s CBD. The middle stretch, in the heart of the city, is a paved, pedestrianised mall.
This is really just one big, concentrated shopping area and is dominated by big retail complexes like Myers, Sydney Tower and Westfield. Lots of chain-stores have their flagship shop here.
For something a little bit different, it’s nice to walk through the Victorian-style Strand Arcade. Built in 1891, it has retained its old-world charm and houses more specialised shops and boutiques. Haigh’s Chocolates is always a drawcard here.
Street performers regularly pop up in the mall and there is some limited seating in the centre of the mall, although its a busy area (especially around lunch time), so don’t rely on finding a spare seat.

A decent size COLES supermarket adds to the attraction. Definitely one of the better mid range malls along George Street. We enjoyed it so much that we went back a second time to try a different restaurant three nights later, and it was equally as much fun. Both the Japanese and Chinese restaurants were excellent and the staff were very competent. In my day there was just a few shops but now it's been redone and has heaps of the larger stores plus boutique shops . The outside looks old and plain but inside looks amazing. I was very impressed. Doesn't have the big brands but it still has a lot of basics like a supermarket and many retail outlets. A big food court which would satisfy anyone for daytime snacks or lunch.

One can take a tram, cab or just walk to feel the aura of the place. - AcinetoAuckland Central, New Zealand23,747 contributionsWe stopped by to grab some lunch at Top Ryde Bakers house but did have a small walk around the mall sine I also had to pop into the post office. The mall was decently sized and did have a nice selection of shops and food places.
Parking was easy enough and was easy enough to get in and out of. Thing it was called edo mae sushi. It’s a small center with a collection of shops including Ikea, Coles and Aldi. There are a number of restaurants and cafes to suit most choices including chinese, indian, pizza and fast food as well.
The Ikea is one of the largest stores in Sydney and has a lovely restaurant as well.
There are some fashion retail shops including Cotton On, Conners and Target.
Plenty of car parking spaces available in the secure parking under the complex with the first 3 hrs free. Parking is also free after 6pm everyday.
Outside the center there is a short walk to the waterfront and would be lovely to take a stroll on a summers day. Some excellent cafes along the way to get that coffee fix.
All in all I like the place and has mostly everything you need. The current four-level shopping centre was completed in 2000. On 6 levels there is a decent range of fashion outlets that cater for most needs and budgets.
