Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Shirley RChatswood, Australia5 contributionsHad a great time looking at The Australian War Memorial.
It was interesting to see the new foyer and how there always seems to be something new to see.

- Romanw871Redwood City, CA2,663 contributionsI decided to hike one of the trails, it was very nice, but strenuous (and I consider myself to be in a good shape 😉). The views on the top are great and worth of effort ( BTW the look out is also accessible by car).
If you hike -make sure you have good shoes and bring some water with you).Written 1 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The collection is truly extensive and breathtaking. The gallery is free to enter and when we went today (Sunday) the parking was also free.
We came to see one particular exhibition today “Masami Teraoka and Japanese Ukiyo-E Prints” and though this review is focused on this, the first exhibition of Teraoka’s work held in Australia, we also walked through many gallery spaces admiring incredible works of art, furniture & breathtaking installations to reach it. The gallery staff were all wonderful and happily answered all questions.
The Masami Teraoka’s work is a fusion of the traditional Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints with western influences. Themes range from eroticism and beautiful women to supernatural beings to globalism and HIV/AIDS. His works AIDS Series/Makiki Heights Disaster (1988) AIDS Series/Geisha in Bath (2008) are incredible and captivating.
More highlights include the McDonald’s Hamburgers Invading Japan/Tattooed Woman and Geisha III (2018) & Sarah and Octopus/Seventh Heaven (2001).
Other leading ukiyo-e exponents featured in the exhibition include Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kunisada, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and Toyohara Kunichika.
We absolutely loved this exhibition and it is well worth visiting. I am from Saigon and I did a side trip from Sydney just to see this. If you live locally it is truly one of those rare must see exhibitions.Written 23 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I've never seen so many bandicoots in my life! The talk from the staff about the koalas was really informative, and it was great to learn about their rehabilitation work. The visitors centre was unfortunately being renovated and was closed, but this just means we'll have to visit again. If you have access to a car I can't think of a nicer way to spend a day in Canberra.Written 27 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony WSydney, Australia4,620 contributionsLake Burley Griffin really is the centrepiece of Canberra. - ArmağanHo Chi Minh City, Vietnam9,295 contributionsA friend and I drove to Canberra for the weekend. The current Pompeii exhibition was one of the reasons we decided to drive down.
We found the video presentations and all the social and history commentary fascinating. It really helped place the rest of the exhibition into context. I was amazed that they had the number of items on display as they did considering the whole town was destroyed by the volcanic eruption. It was especially gratifying to see sculptures that had survived and small miniature bronzes as well as everyday household items. The castings of the dead bodies buried under the ash were very touching.
On the whole, we were very satisfied with the exhibition. If you come on a weekend the parking is free!Written 22 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
