Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- EddyCSSydney, Australia204 contributionsThe best history of Australian war there is. Such a great exhibit. Even my 4 year old enjoyed it.
Starting at WW1 it is a great journey through history and brings the stories to life in such a real way.
We can never repeat these atrocities and these exhibits showcase this in an amazing way.
Do yourself a favour and take a walk down Anzac Parade as well for the beautiful memorials, particularly the naval one.Written 29 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some huge models of a "Lego Man", a rocket and many other space-related models are accompanied by some fascinating scientific and mathematical facts. For those wanting a hands-on experience, there are several work-stations to play at. Combined with the more general exhibits on the other floors of this excellent science museum, it adds up to a great and inspiring 2-3 hours, especially for the curious.Written 5 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kate JMissoula, MT352 contributionsBeautiful architecture, gardens and exhibits. Let's ved the Ned Kelly series. The sculpture garden is lovely and well worth a visit.Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AussieVGMarsfield, Australia476 contributionsI love a visit to this museum, and it was a pleasure to revisit as a parent with the toddler. The exhibition halls are a great mix and perfectly engaging for all ages. We also visited the discovery centre which was brilliant. We did get lost a bit, more signs back to the exit in the outdoor space would be welcome.Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jimmyram19xxLondon, UK11 contributionsIf you love politics and a bit of history this is a fabulous museum. From the exhibitions to taking in both chambers of the house along with a hefty dose of 70s/80s design and furniture, spending 2-3 hours here will not be wasted!Written 29 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - islandboi6Longford, Australia703 contributionsRight next door to the National Gallery , a five minute walk next door. Mostly enjoyed the current selection, although I found one heavily featured artist to be a bit woke ( I guess a sign of the times)Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Noel B1 contributionI loved the bonsai trees, they were so beautiful and I really respect everyone made to keep the healthy and clean. Thank you for having me.Written 27 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ery559Sydney, Australia111 contributionsAttended with 7 and 9 year old. Both really liked it. It’s not big inside but we enjoyed looking at fossils and reading the interesting facts. $50 entry for family of four I thought was reasonable (for these times).
The outdoor playground is great for all kids under 10. I didn’t notice a cafe which would have been great on a cold day to get a coffee and watch kids play.
The gift shop had great gem items starting at $2, my kids loved getting “treasure” and was economical to get them a few stones each.
Was a great way to spend 2hrs.Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My sister from Melbourne found out about the Homestead and suggested we visit it. We spent around two hours looking around and going on a guided tour led by Julia. She was very knowledgeable and gave a wonderful tour. I would highly recommend this attraction.Written 22 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- S SSydney, Australia10 contributionsAs a geoscientist who doesn't miss showing my kid lots of rocks, this is best geological educational centre I can remember seeing. It has a nice mix of theory and hands on which helped me explain concepts which were difficult to explain previously. There is also a gemstone and interesting rock exhibit in the foyer. We only go to Canberra occasionally, but will make a point of going back to Geoscience each time we do.Written 26 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Katary55Launceston, Australia19 contributionsWe went on a Sunday so we could also attend the market next door. It was interesting. - Tamsin HSydney, Australia784 contributionsA very different experience from the last time I was here. Refurbished interior different entrance and no object gallery. Still a good place to visit with plenty to see and discover.Written 28 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia9,013 contributionsSome great and thought provoking exhibit throughout the CMAG galleries, great signage, yet even with the assistance of the signage, many of the contemporary art forms were beyond my understanding, I simply cannot envisage what the artist sees. I felt more at ease with the painting topics in the Sidney Nolan Gallery. In the RAM display plaster designs by Stuart Devlin and other artists were interesting as was the range of tools used in the changing design technologies.Written 19 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia9,013 contributionsOn our tour itinerary and guide, Neil, gave us a great history lesson on the origins of the Territory, the early settlers that lived there, the political machinations that led to its creation, the design brief for the city and the vision put forward by Walter and Marion Griffin. Loved the model, helped to put everything into perspective and see the relationship between the vision for the city, suburbs and the natural landscapes and to identify present landmark buildings. Great interactive displays added to our knowledge as we browsed afterwards. Returned a few days later to learn more of the history and admire the public art and historic landmarks nearby. Also helped to have the Visitor Information Centre in the building. Great facility on the elevated block overlooking the lake, parklands and across to Capital Hill.Written 19 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheGoodPlace19Camberwell, Australia64 contributionsI enjoyed my visit. There wasn’t a massive amount to do here, but I really liked seeing the internationally translated film posters and footage from behind the scenes of Australian films. There were some cool displays of items to see also. I stayed for maybe half an hour, I would travel especially for it but I was really glad to visit while in the neighborhood.Written 29 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
