Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- EmanpeeSydney, Australia2,728 contributionsThis is an excellent out and back walk and walking trail where you are rewarded with stunning views from Square Rock. We went on a Sunday, and while busy, it didn't feel crowded (even though the carpark was full and overflowing). A good level of fitness is recommended as the first 3 kilometres is mostly uphill with the remainder of the 5km journey (including Orroral Lookout) gently undulating. Mixed surface to walk on so hiking boots best, although plenty of walkers in runners. Very grassy, so if legs sensitive recommend long pants. There are no toilets anywhere, including none at carpark which is very poor. Nor is there any water, so BYO drink and food.Written 20 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dan LBunbury, Australia8,887 contributionsNice area for a stroll if visiting the area around Canberra, shopping mall, shops and dining areas and showcasing a number of attractive public art pieces. Paved area with the fall of autumn leaves creating a touch of the rural. The best of the vegetation and flora was past when we visited in May, but still a great place to stroll or just relax.Written 23 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CorvettePeteBelconnen, Australia1,172 contributionsThis is literally our backyard and it is a wonderful walk to get a great view of Canberra from one side and of Belconnen when you are near the water tanks.
The local Friends of Mount Painter have done a great job removing the weeds. When we moved in 20 years ago it was very difficult to get up the hill due to the thistles. The have got rid of all of these. There is easy parking off Coulter drive or near the sun dial in Skinner Street.Written 14 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The promenade contains a flag pole and flag for every nation on the planet. There are a couple of places to get a drink or a bite to eat. A lovely place for a stroll.Written 11 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LP2 contributionsThis walk has improved! My highlight and the main feature of improvement was the newly awarded Australian of the Year 1993 - Cheekybeak (the Cockatoo). Last time I did this walk, this plaque was empty as there was no Australian of the Year 1993. I was very happy to see the people of Canberra have posthumously awarded Cheekybeak!Written 4 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Granules2013Darwin, Australia1,954 contributionsNice park in the outer suburbs of Canberra. Nice spot to go for a walk through the wilderness, easy walking track that's dog friendly. Not overcrowded, nice to be outdoors here.Written 7 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
