Kings Park and Botanic Garden provides so many options; views of the city, avenues of mature eucalypt trees, elevated walkway, bird-watching, formal gardens, bushland, cafes, walking, sitting on benches and enjoying the sun. Various guided tours and other activities are also available.
We spent a couple of hours exploring the park and garden. Our first stop was to admire views of the city of Perth. Next we opted to take about a 45 minute walk that included the elevated walkway. The walkway allows you to experience various plants from canopy height. It's a gorgeous structure. Various species of birds could be observed feeding on nectar, flying overhead or perching in trees.
Our next walk was to explore a garden designed for children, in particular school groups. This included ponds and structures for climbing.
From here, we drove to the Zamia Cafe for coffee and a snack, then took a walk around the lake.
Kings Park is a popular destination, and on sunny days the car parks seem to fill; especially around lunch time. Having a car is useful if you're hoping to explore multiple trails throughout the Park. Being mainly outdoors, dress appropriately and remember sunscreen.
