Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We usually visit Questacon when in Canberra, the kids love the interactive displays.
The fee to get in is reasonable and it's great on a hot or rainy day when you just want to be inside.
The cafe has pretty limited options and is pricey but the food is not bad.
My only wish is that there were different shows in the Japan Theater, they repeat the same show a few times a day - it would be nice to have different ones on the same day as when we were there the show didn't interest our group and was for over 8+ which didn't suit my kids age group so we couldn't attend, they had 3-4 shows but they were all the same one.

Visited this wonderful museum with my wife. It is based in an old tram shed, which has been tastefully added to with modern glass buildings. An eclectic mix of exhibitions, from fashion to steam machinery, airplanes, steam railway and space exploration. The space station mock up is particularly impressive. A great place to visit.

Our family really enjoyed our visit to this museum and art gallery. There was just about the right mix of art and museum in a very beautiful old historic building. The cafe is also a great plus for weary tourists. There was a fantastic exhibition on of Lloyd Rees from his early to late works. Such a beautiful talented artist. We were very fortunate to see it s we didn't know it was on. Our grandchildren also learned a lot about the history of Tasmania and were very interested making connections as we toured around. It is really well curated for both adults and children. Top marks!

A great place for children of all ages, so many things to explore plus live shows throughout the day you won’t be bored here! Easy to get to via train/bus there is also a car park you can pay to use, inside a shopping centre they also have a cafe inside which offered a good selection of food and drink.

It's advertised as 6yrs+ but I took my 3.5yr old and he loved it. Of course there were some things he didn't understand but would recommend for little ones as well. We went last Tues, lucky we got into the first morn session coz the next 3 sessions were booked out by school groups, so maybe worth booking online if you can. Three small spaces but kept us entertained for over an hour.

We stumbled upon this little Gem by accident on the way back from a hike. The Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, it is an active site with several satellite dishes, an amazing museum inside and cafe

We even bought a packet of space ice cream from the gift shop (freeze dried ice cream)🍦it was awesome!

Our family enjoyed our visit, including our two teenagers (13 & 15). The 'Bubbleology' Show was a highlight. Appreciated how interactive the displays were - had a terrific time exploring and sometimes competing with each other. Spent about three hours here - an hour longer than I expected! We also went to Questacon on our holiday and I worried there would be alot of duplication between the two venues; there was actually hardly any overlap. Both were quite unique and worthwhile experiences. Great gift shop too! Only thing we felt was lacking was a tap where we could fill our water bottles the next leg of our trip. A very enjoyable visit!

Tip: We thought we had to pay for parking, however bring your ticket inside and the staff can validate it for you!

The Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum is an excellent introduction to mining and minerals in Broken Hill. You can watch a video about the geology of the area and see examples of the minerals. Learn about mining in the area. There was also a temporary exhibit of aboriginal art. It is well worth a visit.

This was a fun couple of hours. We took our 3 and 6 year old and they had a great time, and the cafe food was excellent. The staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable.Would recommend stopping on way to places further north, I don’t know if I would make a dedicated trip from Perth just for the museum.

Give yourself about 1.5 hours to see everything excluding the planetarium which was on at 1.30pm.

We took a 3 year old and a 15 month old and there was plenty for them to do.

Lots to touch and experiment with.

What a fabulous place. Such an interesting display of rocks and minerals. You can even touch a piece of the moon. A terrific looking education centre and library. The geological walk was marvelous. A must see and do if you go to Canberra.

The most unusual feature of this museum are the buildings, which are a striking assortment of old brick museums, jails and libraries confusingly interwoven with modern staircases and glass walkways. The result is a complex maze where it is almost impossible to locate every gallery. The visitor map provides limited assistance as there is no suggested route and at least one gallery (Treasures) has no obvious entrance at all. Staff are friendly and try hard to help with navigation. The exhibits when you find them are actually quite good and as varied as the buildings.

Don't be put off by the subject matter - this is exceptional. Beautifully presented and highly informative if you are curious about life, the universe and everything. Especially since the quality of information and display was unexpected.
