Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Andy LSan Francisco, CA55 contributionsPretty much the entire island of Boiepba is paradise - long stretches of stunning beaches, the freshest seafood, exotic fruits, calm, warm oceans....I dream all the time of going back. But among the beaches on the island Castelhanos stood out. The one establishment served hot, crispy pastel and drinks with any number of tropical fruits. Most of the people seemed to stay at the restaurant or right on the beach in front of it leaving the long stretch of gorgeous beach deserted and ours to explore alone. It was so lovely it almost didn't seem real. The only downside was that the only way we found to get there was part of a daylong boat trip. However, that day was fantastic with several memorable stops around the island (Bainema, Cova de Onça, Canavieiras, a sandbar in the middle of nowhere). We hoped to hire a boat to take us back to Castelhanos but were unable to. Whatever disappointment we felt was quickly forgotten as we lounger around Praia Cueira eating fresh octopus cooked with banana.Written 18 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andy LSan Francisco, CA55 contributionsOf all the beaches around Boipeba we spent most of our time lounging around Praia Cueira. A bit of a hike from town it was still close enough to get to easily. And while we weren't the only ones on the beach we were able to find a quiet spot to relax. The water was calm and warm, the views were stunning, and I found all the stress of the outside world melting away. The beach is long enough for a nice, long stroll and to allow people to spread out. So even if it's a busy day it still feels calm and private. Rustic barracas dot the beach offering tropical drinks made with exotic fruits, cold beer, and the freshest seafood you could want. While Guidos down the beach is the most famous spot we found Glede to have better food, cheaper prices, and way less fuss. I've never been great at letting go and relaxing but Cueira helped change that.Written 18 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Victor MSao Paulo, SP17 contributionsReally beautiful and wide beach that is very calm and basically has no infrastructure (I recall a camping and a small hotel and some tents for drinks). At night you will probably be stuck there as the roads that lead there has no light.Written 7 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marcelo Rodrigues4 contributionsThis Island is located in the municipality of Cairu and to get there, you have to go boat. It is a calm, beautiful and relaxing. You can buy hippie jewelry. You can have a beer with friends. You can also sit in the sand and take pictures with your family or friends. In addition to it, you can get tanned in the sun. You can't walk naked there and have sex in public.
When I visited the “Velha Boipeba" with my brother, I liked it a lot, In the morning we went out to buy drinks and meat. In the afternoon we would walk on the beach and the night we went out to eat in some snack bar. When we went here it was a festive period, in the square some local bands performed and as the house we stayed in was near the square, the loud sound made it difficult for us to sleep.
Despite the small inconvenience, the island of "Boipeba" is a fairly quiet place with an incredible biological diversity, I recommend it for all.Written 25 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only a couple of km. from the main village but be careful not to get cut off by the rising tide.Written 3 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is totally occupied with bars, loud music and lots of boats.
It is just a place to walk away from when on your way to better places.Written 22 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The square is fill with locals and you can always find some foreigners there since there a couple of hostels nearby! This square is just a pass by place and I don't believe that requires much time to see it...Written 19 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Behind the church they have a small cemetery, which is also nice to see!!Written 19 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tamara RDelray Beach, FL4 contributionsThis was an amazing experience. Marta was a great guide with loads of knowledge on the local ecosystem. We kayaked through the mangroves and had bonfire on the beach before experiencing the amazing bioluminescence. I highly recommend it.Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steve FEagan, MN2 contributionsStay away from this company. We took their boat tour around the island. We didn’t even get out of the harbor area before we were hit by a series of large waves. My wife was thrown from the boat and had to be rescued from the water in high surf. She suffered a cut to her head. I lost my glasses and hit my head against the boat. Finally another boat came to pick us up and then he got stuck on a sand bar and we had to help him push the boat into deeper water. No one was wearing life jackets. These guys are irresponsible, inexperienced, and dangerous.Written 26 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
