While at the Piazza Duomo be sure to visit the church of Santa Lucia alla Badia to view the exquisite Caravaggio painting the "Burial of St. Lucy".

The site is spectacular, even neglecting the Neolithic caves: amazing cricket singing, luscious vegetation, the sound of the water flowing in the bottom, flashes of colours from a variety of flowers.
Driving on to Catania, the dramatic scenery included clear views of Mt Etna, the first in our 4 visits to Sicily, including a tour up to the mountain's chairlift.

Connected to the church is the octagonal Chiesa del Sepolcro, a basilica built as a burial site of Saint Lucia.
The kairos leaflet picked up from any of these sites or the tiny eleventh century church at the entrance to neapolis will give you a discount to these.

The Fountain of Diana in the Piazza Archimede gives excellent views down the Corso Matteotti to the harbour - this being full of exclusive shops.
