Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went here when it was raining. Lots of interesting asian works of art to see and it was all laid out very well. It was well worth going.

Very fine small museum, with excellent collections. Don't miss the Goya!
the main part of the collection is based on paintings owned by the 19th century portraitist Bonnat, originally from this town, who made a success in Paris. Unusually fine, small paintings; worth a visit if you are in the area!

Visiting, well, actually, not visiting the Contemporary Art Museum Didam was a real disappointment. In May it is only open from 1 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. but, when we arrived at 3 p.m. the gate was closed and there was a laconic message: ‘Closed. End of Exhibition’. So, we took a few pictures of the exterior, roamed through the books in the free street library across the street from the museum and left.

The museum is housed in the early 1930s Art Deco building of the former Interdepartmental Maritime Authority (‘Inscription maritime’) designed by local architects Louis and Benjamin Gomez. It is worth a visit, even if the museum is closed. The building is perfectly symmetrical and rather austere but it has striking decorative elements, like the wrought iron door representing an anchor, seaweed, an octopus, shellfish and seagulls against the background of a sunset. The façade is decorated with a bas-relief bearing the coat of arms of the city of Bayonne and its Latin motto ‘numquam polluta (‘never soiled’). Waves, oars and ropes refer to the important role of navigation in the life of the city. The portico of the building is flanked by grotesque fish heads with mooring rings.

I went there to see the exposition of Combas. So good! So colorful! The galery is small, but very cozy!
